Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

Mostly going to use this for the road/city commuting. I like road bikes but I'm too afraid of flats and the crappy roads. Would this be good for that? Is $500 a fair price to offer?

Looks pretty nice, in spite of all the crappy non-drive side photos. This review is pretty positive: Test Lab, review of Scott CX Team - Bicycling Australia

I'd expect the seller to counter a $500 offer, but you might get lucky.

Bikes: Co-Motion Cappuccino Tandem,'88 Bob Jackson Touring, Co-Motion Cascadia Touring, Open U.P., Ritchie Titanium Breakaway, Frances Cycles SmallHaul cargo bike. Those are the permanent ones; others wander in and out of the stable occasionally as well.

Probably a good choice for a mostly commuter bike. Would be better if it had disc brakes though! Any decent used bike is bringing top dollar these days.

Canti's are great! Enjoy!

I really enjoyed this article from Cycling Tips on older 'cross bikes with canti's:
