What did I buy? and fork question
https://raleigh-canada.ca/products/r...n-bike-27-5-in
I haven't had an MTB for a couple of decades but thought it would be good to go on a trail with my son and not take a chance with my upright commuter.
It was an impulse buy as it was in the stores junk bike pile; it would not shift properly...bought the right derailer and done
Department store, no customer service info, store employees don't know.....so here I am
The front forks are Easing, not adjustable, no name, seem like poser forks a bit, I have never had suspension.
At the top of the stroke there is a soft thunk and it seems like the travel is not smooth up top. I am guessing there is oil in these.
Is this bike any good for offroad or am I asking for a bit of trouble?
Also the forks...IDK how to identify them or tell if they have oil or air or**********
Please help.
thanks.

I bought a cheap entry level MTB used for $200 & I've been having a ball w/ it. but then I ride like an old man. no offense meant to the old men who ride like young men ;-) do more research, if I needs work, do it. it's not what you have, it's what you do w/ it
may not be not as good as I once was, but I'm good once as I ever was
that said, if it needs a fork, that might be more hassle & expense than the whole bike is worth. when I did mine, I spent as much on tools, as I did the fork

It's a fairly cheap starter bike, but the components should be fine. Ride it and then when it starts to feel limited or needs repair, you'll have a better idea of what you want to get next time!
