Specialized Sirrus 6.0 tire change

Hi ,
I just bought my wife a 2021 Sirrus 6.0 carbon frame.
She rides on mostly roads and paved trails but occasionally on grass or some gravel/ dirt roads .

We were surprised on how thin the tires were . She was hoping
for a wider tire with more traction . Can the Sirrus 6.0
be modified to a different tire type?
Thanks for any help/ information.

Alan

The 6.0 is a flat bar road bike... the Sirrus X models are more tailored to rougher "road" riding. The biggest roadblock to tire size I imagine is the frame/forks. How much clearance do you have to the inner chain stays and fork legs?

Sirrus x 5.0 uses 21 mm internal width rims and comes stock with 38c Pathfinder Pros. 42C would still fit, but there minimal room to grow. Sirrus 6.0 uses 20 mm internal width rims and based on the chart in link below, at least 44 not accounting for frame/fork clearance.

Thanks for the information .I wish Specialized would make it easy and just list alternatives.

By rough road rides , do you mean riding on rough roads or that the
ride itself is expected to be rough?
Thanks

I mean the Sirrus X models are meant for those seeking to ride on surfaces other than pavement... be it packed dirt, gravel, grass, rough cobbles, etc... 1x drivetrains, wider tires, more relaxed riding position, wider bars, etc...

Why not ask the bike shop were you got it?

Sirrus 6.0

The bike shop pointed out there are no "X 6.0" models . It's just a 6.0 without x . So I was trying to determine if the 6.0 was meant for different terrain than the other x models .
thanks.

That's right, the x 5.0 is the highest tier "x" Sirrus. The Sirrus 6.0, 4.0, 3.0, 2.0 and 1.0 are primarily road-oriented and x 5.0, x 4.0, x 3.0 & x 2.0 are mixed road/off-road.

Water under the bridge... the biggest differences in Sirrus vs. Sirrus x are 1x drivetrains and wider tires. If you wanted a 2x and more "trail" oriented, then something like a Diverge might have been a better option.

Personally I see the Sirrus 6.0 as a full-on roadie for someone who doesn't want drop bars, but wants a light and stiff frame, great components and a less aggressive body position. Its a weird "fitness" bike because of its cost... most wouldn't be looking for that. At that level most are going drop bar with more aggressive geometries even more suited for the road, like a Allez/Tarmac/Aethos.

Either way, throw some wider tires if you can and enjoy.
