It's cheap (really cheap, bought it used), weak brakes, heavy, poor gearing, slow etc. I'm riding it all over, creek beds, trails, gravel I'm having a blast with it. Will be fun this winter, gives me something to ride a little with, and get outdoors in the winter months here.

I don't know why they made the gears so high, perhaps they thought people were going to commute with it?, I seen a guy on the trail actually riding a single speed one of these! A smaller chain ring would be nice also.

Had plenty of fun on my Malus. It's been replaced with a better fatty, but lots of good rides on it.

I did the 14-34 Megarange freewheel , for a cheap upgrade it really made the bike more rideable on the trail, climbs way better than the stock.

Been looking at a used one of these. They weight 45 pounds! Is that common for a fatbike?

I look to it being a project I can upgrade.

Fat bikes are heavier by nature. Around 30-35 lbs is common

That one is a lower level bike so inexpensive components are typically heavier.

I wouldn't upgrade a bike like that. Ride it until it dies then get a better overall bike.

You'll spend more money on upgrades over time that an entirely new bike up front.

I rode it all over the place, winter, summer snow trails etc. It never let me down.

No. Only on cheap department store fat bikes.

My fat bike weighs 26 lbs.

The bike shop has a carbon fiber frame fat bike - I think that's what it is. It is light as a feather. It costs $4500.

For a CF fatty, that's not horrible....

I'm reducing 10 lb from my ride by eliminating sugar.
(cheaper than $4500)
