Be at peace. They will never allow that thing to be sold in the U.S. Because in only a few months of early adoption it would become clear that what is really killing cyclists are ultra-large pickups and SUV's that now have hoodlines taller than the average woman.

Absurd cost. Dubious technology. I'd have to take on faith that they've figured out how to ensure it deploys when it should and doesn't when it shouldn't. Bike crashes are too complex to set up reasonable lab crash testing, which is why helmets are tested the way they are. I wouldn't trust the ability to test whatever parameters they set up for deployment.
I've also had a couple of times where my helmet protected me from small overhanging branches, these definitely wouldn't have deployed.

Let's hope they aren't made by Takata!
And if these are things you hang around your neck and shoulders this won't work for me. I tried one of those neck gators to use as a mask when COVID first started. And even before the weather started getting really warm they were way too hot to have around my neck when riding at a fast pace for fitness.

That ridiculous contraption has been around since at least 2014. I recall BSNYC posting a wonderful short video showing one going off 'accidentally' ... indoors.
