I will say that part of the reason I went with a Wednesday is my love of steel for HT and rigid MTBS, as well as road/gravel. Only my FS bike is non-ferrous (Al).
After having owned this a while, I would be more open to Al were I to do it over again (or CF, though more than I want to spend). This thing does weigh a lot, and I don't think the steel feel is as relevant with massive tires at 4-8 psi. Also, if I am being honest, not all steel is created equal, and Surly is not exactly the fine wine of steel frames. I do love the fit and handling though, and all the bosses are nice as well. I fantasize of living a life where I actually use them all.

From today’s ride. Changes include swapping to VanHelga tires, and comprehensive fenders.

SX came on my girlfriends Kona Woo...Chain, derailleur, shifter and cassette. No problems with anything but the shifter. SX Shifter is junk so I swapped it out for a GX. Also put a GX cassette on the new carbon wheelset we got for the bike.

pulled the trigger
I've got a Wednesday on order & being built up now. A basic fitting is included, but I went with the medium. I'll start a new thread once I pick it up. Exciting!
