BMX Cruiser

Hi all.

I'm planning to buy a BMX style cruiser bike, most likely 26" and am leaning towards the Fairdale Taj. It has pretty much everything I'm looking for and looks cool to boot. Are there any other bikes in this range that would be better than the Taj. Price really isn't too much of a factor (within reason of course). This bike will be for myself to kick around with my sons. I'm 49, and a kid at heart.

I just sold my Stolen Bike CO. Zeke 26 inch. Great quality bike for cruising around with my kids, felt a little too big to thrash on. Planning on getting a 20 inch.

Thanks SevenOneEight. I have looked at that bike as well......looks like a good one. I'll keep it on my short list.

I just built this from an '87 Schwinn mountain bike for cruising and dirt jumping with my kids. But if I could afford it, I would love to own the Fairdale!

The Fairdale is nice --- I cant say whether it is "better" or worse , but I owned a 26" SE OM Flyer and it was a capable machine as well.

Top tube was sloped a bit lower than the Taj

We The People and Subrosa make big cruisers too -- but they have more of a freestyle vibe than an old school BMX vibe from what I have seen

Ended up getting a Redline PL-26 in blue. Maybe not quite as nice as the Taj, but hopefully it will be a good bike. The Taj is out of stock until June/July so I decided to go with my second choice. The bike arrived this weekend, but I haven't had a chance to put it together yet. Looking forward to getting out on it soon.

I too considered the Taj. I loved the red paint and chrome fork, but wasn't keen on the micro drivetrain that is so popular on newer BMX bikes. The RL looks more old school, which is what I prefer. I'm sure you'll enjoy your new RL. Pics please!

Kinda what I was thinking too. I like the look of the Redline a bit more due to it looking a little more old school. The Taj has some nice components and I too like the red and chrome combo, but I decided to go ahead with the RL since the Taj isn't currently available. Looking forward to getting it put together and taking it out.

That Schwinn cruiser is cool. Nice looking bike. Did you use 24" bmx wheels on it?

Thanks! It has 26" wheels, it's just a very small frame. I love it so much I made another out of an '84 High Sierra!

Nice. I have an old Shogun Prairie Breaker. You have inspired me to do the same.

Nice work, FujiSam . Those bikes are an inspiration. I especially like the fork crown on the High Sierra.

I have the BMX handlebars.

Haro 2021 Slo Ride

My LBS has a 26” in their store. I’m tempted to pull the trigger but before I do, any feedback from anyone that already has this bike, would be appreciated.

FWIW, I’m not going to be doing tricks on the bike. Just want a good bulletproof cruiser.

The 26" is a 2020,...see if you can get a good price. It was originally priced at $559.99. Hot bike BTW.

When you get to 26" cruisers IMHO, it's not really what's better but what suites your style more OP. If I was going to go retro I would get a chrome Kuwahara Suvivor and ditch the stem for a better vintage stem. Or I would look at getting a Race Inc if I wanted Aluminum. But if I wanted a nice more modern bike the Taj would be a great choice. personally though I don't know why guys simply don't throw some BMX bars on a dirt jumper and call it a day? Better brakes, better frame construction, and shocks if you want them. They probably also come with better and stronger wheels to.

Hey guys here’s my current build in progress. Going for a Harry Leary vibe with it. Going to throw the black Avenir wheels back on it tomorrow night.
