Great bike, assuming all is well with the condition. For a "first triathlon," that bike will exceed the need and probably serve many more events. Check the list price on that bike; it's pretty lofty. S5, top racing bike, but not Cerv's *tri-bike* model... not so much an 'endurance bike' so it's more about aero and less about long-ride comfort (ala R3, R5). Price is relative to the moment - if the buyer needs a bike now, not wait, then it's a comparison of alternatives, right? Such as, "would you rather have this or that for $2750?" If I were competing in any road event, I'd love to have an S5.

You might get some more traction in the triathlon forum, LMK if you'd like it moved.

Personally I think a triathlon-specific bike or time trial bike would be faster. But that sounds like a good deal for that road bike and it would provide more versatility than a tri/TT bike for training, other events etc. But it will be markedly slower in most (tri) race scenarios.

Riding a TT bike takes practice. The position does take time to get used to. The S5 is a wonderful bike.
