I'm digging all the bike trunk bags on here. I have pretty big feet and find if my pannier bags are loaded down my heels hit them sometimes. I think I am going to upgrade to one of those.

fwiw - I started using a matched set of bag (trunk) & rack by Topeak, where the trunk slides & clips into the rack. there's still a little movement so I also use a cpl bungees. but I don't rely on the bungees to hold the trunk to the rack. they do hold my camera stick & small tripod. I'm glad to also not have to fuss w/ velcro straps, which don't fit all racks the same way. also bought a plastic adapter for my wooden rack (I have 3 bikes)

these aren't cheap but mine gets a lot of use. I would redesign the trunk & already cut out the fold out panniers. weird the company doesn't make a nice sized trunk with usable side pockets. maybe a competitor will make something similar? or maybe not due to patent issues?

this is the small trunk which is too small for me

the plastic adapter which is not easy to source

this is the larger trunk I prefer

EDIT: oh yikes, never mind, I already shared all that, duh ;-(

Went to Ridgeland, MS this weekend to take part in the Natchez Trace Century Ride on Saturday. There were over 1000 riders registered, with 8, 25, 50, 62 and 100 mile routes to choose from. I completed a Metric Century on my Sirrus 3.0. Great weekend!

Start of the ride was in Old Trace Park

misty drizzle and overcast skies for much of the ride, which helped keep the temperature down.

My Sirrus 3.0 posed at the next to last rest stop.

A significant portion of the route was on the Natchez Trace itself. Very scenic, even with the overcast.

My hybrid and I made eight trips this weekend picking up Chick-fil-A hotboxes full of sandwiches and carrying them back to our church for concessions benefitting the youth group. This is the annual Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival and there's a Fireman's Parade on Friday evening and the Grand Feature Parade on Saturday. Because of the parade route, the moo-mobile can get as close as about six blocks from our church (which is downtown, on the parade route), so we need to travel to fetch the sandwiches. This trailer and Trek 750 did the hauling work for me this year (I use a different one of my bikes each year to spread the fun around).

I converted a Thule Chariot into this flatbed utility trailer and it works great for carrying two hotboxes at a time (100 sandwiches). I estimate each full box to weigh about 40 pounds, so it's quite a load on the trailer (but it's got leaf spring suspension and rides really nicely). I have some eye-hooks on all four corners to strap loads down and it's very handy for carting stuff over some distance. We usually park the car way out and bike in to downtown also, so I carry our camp chairs and water and such on the trailer on our way in...do the Chick-fil-A hauling during the day...and then carry our stuff back out after the event is over. It makes for a pretty good day as far as exercise goes!

Last Thursday I rode the Eureka Trail, which runs between Athens and Englewood, TN. A nice hard pack gravel trail with entertaining markers every 10th of a mile. Very nice trail head on the Athens end.

Athens Trail Head

Nice smooth hard pack gravel trail.

There are a few creek crossings on the trail.

Trail marker at the Englewood end of the trail.

Old RR Mile Marker

The Athens trailhead once was a "wye" used to turn trains around.

Restrooms and a bike repair station at the Athens Trail Head.

Last weekend I was camping at Gee Creek Campground in Hiwassee-Ocoee River State in TN. On Friday I took my Sirrus 3.0 on a ride in and around the campground and nearby Forest Service Rd in the Cherokee National Forest.

Commuted to work yesterday. Try to ride in once a week, when I know I won't need my car. Commute is about 35 miles round-trip.

I rode the Eureka Trail in Athens, TN again on Sunday on my 2020 Sirrus 3.0. Really nice trail, with ample parking and restrooms at the Athens Trailhead.

Eureka Trail

Englewood Trailhead

The trail is currently 5.6 miles long, running between Athens, TN and Englewood, TN.

One of two trestles on the trail.

Second trestle.

Plenty of wildflowers along the trail.

Beware of the alligators on the trail!

The first road crossing after you leave the Athens trailhead has these mulch mats on either side.

Rode my Crosstrail on the American Tobacco Trail today, and my lovely bride joined me on her Como. No pictures, can't post any yet anyway. Regardless, this was the longest ride to date on the Crosstrail (which I only recently picked up), and I thoroughly fell in love with the bike. Light, supremely comfortable, lively, but I need to try some different grips. Once it cools off a bit, doing the entire trail in both directions (44miles total) should make a for a nice ride!

took my Sirrus 3.0 for a spin at Black Creek Park this morning, ended up riding 2 laps of the Rails to Trails for a total of 34 miles.

The kudzu is over-running this part of the trail.

And the old trestle over Carson Rd at the eastern end of the trail.

Looking back up the trail from the opposite (western) end at Newfound Creek.

There were 2 of these baby blue tailed skinks on this rock. Each one was about 1.5 - 2 inches long.

As usual, I spent time on the OTET between Westerville and Centerburg. Here are some pics from the new bridge in Sunbury. It’s a great addition to the trail and reduces time on surface streets.

Headed out to one of my childhood haunts in Victoria's Wimmera region, about 257km NW of Melbourne. When I was a kid I used to ride along the river with a BMX or mountain bike, before 'gravel' riding was a thing - but this is surely the very definition of gravel cycling - riding along a gravel road - even if it was on an old hybrid (Giant Escape). I'm not sure if I enjoy riding my bike more now or when I was a kid. The landscape is as flat as a tack - so you can just eat up the miles (but in my case it was only about 30kms). The landscape is a bit of a double-edged sword - because it's so flat, it's easy to ride - but it also felt like I didn't go anywhere!
