Let's get this party started! Not even gonna calculate spoke lengths, just gonna cross my fingers and lace it up. Equalizer is slightly lower profile, so spokes should theoretically be about 1mm short just by eyeballing the rims. Unless the Equalizers have a much thicker inside wall than the 238s, then maybe 2.

I learned that the ending of this movie is not what actually happened.

new chain day and drivetrain scrub day here.
why do is always feel like if it’s REALLY hard to get the quick link to go “snap” into position that i somehow messed something up?
otherwise very satisfying, hoping for no 11t slippage. waited too long to replace the chain last time.

Worst day ever. My go home flight canceled, due to weather. The insturment approaches are out of service in norfolk, and the weather there requires an insturment approach. Having to fly into DC and rent a car.

We had a new rider on our Sunday “recovery” ride. Said he used to live in RVA (on some USAF base) and used to race for the USAF cycling team. Said he had not been riding much lately. He had a really nice bike and good form. But as the ride progressed, he kept getting gapped on the climbs. He told us not to wait, so for the last (but long for our area) climb I told him how to get back to the start, and that’s the last we saw of him.
He seemed like a nice guy so I hope he comes back.

Not hard, just swap the chlorine feeder for a chlorine generator.
Instead of injecting chlorine into the pool, you dump bags of salt. The generator converts the salt to chlorine. Other than that it’s pretty much the same.
When we built our current pool we considered salt. Got talked out of it. Pool builder said the generators don’t last long and are expensive. The salt also corrodes flagstone very fast, and we have flagstone in our design. Builder said they quit doing them because of issues like that.
Either way, you are using chlorine as a sterilizer.

We are doing a salt generator and mineral sanitizer, supposedly much cleaner.

In other news- my stepdad was in the ICU for 11 days with Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. It was a rough go for a while but he pulled out of it.
He had a “small” rash he didn’t tell my mom about and spiked a fever the day before Mother’s Day. It got up to 104, he had a seizure in the kitchen while taking a Covid test, smacked his head on the counter and stopped breathing.
It took 4 days for the hospital to figure out what it was, which seems ridiculous in 2023, but I’m not a doctor.

Forty-something miles of “bike paths” on a 54 mile ride yesterday ‘bout killed me and a few other people I nearly ran into. Worst thing was the awful buckled pavement. Then came the incessant windings and dips, requiring uninterrupted attention. At least the scenery was nice.

It was a long overdue visit to a friend whose boat I used to race on and whose wife has dementia, poor guy. He wanted me to come down for a lecture on why I need to retire and what to do. We played with his 3D printer, his CNC cutting table, and programmed some Arduinos. We kept the welding rig for next time, but I’ll have to find a street route.
