Sorry, no it is not. I have no connection with the bike or seller.

I was too-rushed trying to say that I wasn't pursuing it because it was too big. Because, unless Masi fell off a cliff, $350 seemed pretty good.

Univega Competizione $375
Not the cheapest but looks like it still has the complete Suntour Superbe groupset except possibly the brake levers.

CIOCC Designer 84 SLX frame $350

Peugeot PX10(?) $250

Bianchi Randonneur $175

Dura Ace 25th - "Make me a fair offer"

Mavic Crossmax SSC 26" $300. What's the big deal about these wheels? These are true UST tubeless rims (ie. no spoke holes and requires no taping) for 26" rim brakes. In other words Grail wheels for your classic MTB.

A SLX frame at 350$ is a little bit expensive, knowing that it is a mid range level tubing at best, you can better deals than SLX if you hunt well. The peugeot is a very reasonable and good deal and the frame is made of Reynolds 531.Fair offer for a completely worn and scratched without decals Dura Ace 25th Anniversary Group??? Wonder what the seller calls reasonable. The crossmax has won numerous cross country championships since 1996, the ones in photo are Crossmax MK3 , they are of far better construction than Rolf wheels, DT, WTB and Bontrager. I have already bought one pair for my Jamis MTB project.

One can debate whether the SLX frame is worth $350, but I have to take issue with saying that SLX is "a mid range level tubing at best." In 1984, SLX was pretty much the top of the Columbus line and was used for pro bikes. Columbus came out with ever-more exotic steels in the years that followed, but when that Ciocc was built, SLX was pretty much top of the heap. It is still a very good tube set and does not deserve the "mid range level at best" description.

That's my opinion, and it's worth every bit of what you are paying for it.

It is less qualitative than the dedacciai 18mcdv6 or a 531c or 531p, even the Neuron, EL, Genius, Foco and the Max are better steels, you will never get sub 10 kilos SLX/SL whole bike. I paid that amount of money for my Pinarello Stelvio frame with a high end steel.

I think I understand your logic. All bike frames built before the late 70's/mid 80's are mid level at best since they didn't use any of the steel tubes that weren't invented at the time. Damn, I just learned all of the bikes that I thought were top-of-the-line for their era were just mid-level bikes.

None of those other Columbus tube sets existed in 1984 when the pictured Ciocc was built. At that time, SLX was Columbus' top offering. It was and remains a very good tube set, capable of giving much better performance than the vast majority of us (me very much included) can ever take full advantage of.

But rather than us arguing, how about showing us that Stelvio?
