Anyone Own a Trek "7000"?

So I sold the FX 7.3. Nice bike but I want something more upright. I'm guessing this will be heavier and more upright.

Any thoughts or experience with it? Is it the same thing as a FX 7000?

7000 was a aluminum mountain bike in late 80-90's. My 2005 7500fx is a hybrid.

Well tis is definitely a hybrid. I'm told it's 2011-2013 so maybe this is an FX.

In 06 or 07 FX became a prefix.

I'm not sure what you are asking? Is that a similar model? I believe the stem is adjustable which in the past I wrote off as the sign of an "old man bike". But I guess I'm getting older

The 7000 came out about the time the 7100 switched to having a suspension fork leaving it as the only rigid fork hybrid trek offered, the FX series was a performance hybrid/flat bar road bike. The FX were differentiated by having a sportier geometry, though not by much but at the top end of the range they really were equipped with road parts while you are right, the 7000 series had more upright seating, wider seats, suspension posts, adjustable angle stems, taller rise bars and mixed more mtb parts into the hybrid mix. It will be heavier though not too bad compared to the other 7000 series of hybrids. Negatives to it were that it came 7sp with single wall rims, had to get a 7200 for 8sp cassette and double wall matrix 750 rims. If you remember that its intended purpose is to traverse rail trails and bike paths at a more leisurely pace and be comfortable doing so it won't let you down, if you're looking for a more upright 7.3fx you're really looking for the 7300 though the suspension fork they came with sucked and you had to go to the 7500 to ditch that.

Thanks so much! That's good info! The other reason I sold the FX is I got a nasty flat. Upon inspection I may need to replace a tire once the embedded nail has torn a 3-5mm slash in the sidewall. Since I couldn't find a way to relieve the neck and wrist pain, despite multiple adjustments, I thought a more cruiser-like position may help. Plus at $60 it will be cheaper than a new set of tires and a tube, pretty much a wash cost wise even if Indonthe work myself, which I wasn't really in the mood. So it's really a combination of reasons.
