I associate that song with the death of a schoolmate. I went to a tree hugger elementary school outside the city. We took frequent walks in the woods. While in 5th grade a kid in 6th grade contracted Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, almost certainly from a tick, and mono at the same time and died a day before his 13th birthday. His brother was in my grade. His other brother was a few grades under. The family and mine lived somewhat close to each other and were members of the same swim club. At his memorial service at the school one of the teachers played Turn! Turn! Turn! The school planted an apple tree in his memory. Some of his classmates mixed some of his ashes into the soil at the base of the tree. It was really sad.

Pics never crossed my mind. It has to be pretty spectacular, or I have to be pretty tired. I did pass a wind farm, but so close I was practically right under it. I'll try to do better tomorrow, on a more scenic route.

On the way home I stopped at the gas station. There was a van on the other side of the pump, and another pump beyond that.
I was minding my own business, looking down at the machine as it processed the card. In the background I hear a louder vehicle, like a monster truck, pulling under the roof.
All of a sudden, "BAMSSSSSSS." The monster truck was actually a tractor-trailer (minus the trailer), and it hit the air brakes.
What on earth was it doing at the Walmart grocery store gas station? It barely fit under the roof. I about had cardiac arrest.

If you had been at a Buc-ees you wouldn’t have had this problem.

It was. When he got sick we were given letters to take home to our parents telling of the kid's illness and reminding them to check us for ticks, which my mom did fairly regularly. He died two days later.
Wwe used to have an old baby food jar with alcohol that my mom would drop ticks in to kill them.

The lady in the picture is extraordinarily strong. Not only is she really fast on a bike, she is a big mountain skier and mountain climber. She did Mount Whitney in 13 hours, which is really fast. I was sad when she moved to another state.

Well, the Buc-ees has a more open-air design, so it wouldn't have been like a steam engine exploded next to me in an underground bunker.
Trainspotting. Cool.

Ours was a delight before and after high school. She was actually pretty good during high school, but really came into her own about half way through college.
