BarYAK - and Bikepacking Hack: DIY Handlebar Cradle - size
hello dear Friends,
i am currently wondering how to do a diy-bikepacking setup.
well to get some ideas about the size:
there is the BarYAK-handlebar-set. ( see Baryak.com )
- and Bikepacking Hack: DIY Handlebar Cradle - from adam see:
okay they are totally different.
according the BarYAK-handlebar-set. ( see Baryak.com )
what i am wondering: what do you guess - how long is the dimension - in other words - how far is the extension of the BARYAK - handlebar setup - i guess that the length is about 20 cenitimeters
that means in other words: the main handlebar is about 20 cm from the extension away. Is this true!"?
love to hear from you

I have one on one of my bikes and it's 4cm (just over 1.5 inches) from the handle bars to the bar, no where near 20cm. I made my own handlebar harness. It turned out o.k., but I am short/ have low handlebars and ultimately decided that I did not want any chance of my gear (hit a bump) to end up in my front tire. I ultimately decided on using a (small) front rack, instead. (really minor weight penalty) I did also make my own fork harness from 6mm/ 1/4" x 100mm thick/ 4" black pvc 14" long, that did turn out nice/ usable. / saved me some weight compared to a low rider rack and panniers.

to the OP, I agree it looks to be about 20cm long, if not longer.

Mounting: Once Your desired BarYak width is determined, secure the bottom Bracket to the handlebar by inserting the “C" clamp bolts through the Top and into the bottom “C “ bracket, Using the 4mm Allen wrench, evenly tighten these bolts to a torque of 42–63in-lbs. (4.7–7.2N-m). Note: You may have to un-wrap the top section of handlebar tape in order to gain the desired clamping width. Do not route the brake or shift cable housing underneath the aerobar brackets—this will affect braking and/or shifting performance.
