Same model as Modern Bike lists, SL-D09.
Sunrace does not mention anything, I think they are also left friction/right indexed as himespau thinks. Otherwise why mention 9 speed in the specs?

So, some news.
I finally went to swap out the components on this old road bike from the 70s
Miche 9 speed cassette
9 speed crankset/chainwheels
9 speed Front and rear derailleurs
If all that worked, I'd look into SIS shifters.
So I took off the 8 speed cassette
But the 9 speed cassette rubbed against the frame.
Very disappointing.
These same wheels have been used with an 8 speed cassette on this old road bike.
And a 10 speed cluster, on my Surly Cross Check.
The 9 speed Miche cassette went on the hub ok.
But the frame ended up being the compatabilty issue.
Originally, this bike came with a thinner 5 speed freewheel.
Probably 126 mm hub spacing.
That was widened for the newer, wider hubs/cassettes.

So the 8 speed cassette didn't rub, the 10 speed cassette didn't rub, but the 9 speed does? I mean that does make sense because the 9 speed cassette is ~1mm wider than than the 8 speed, and the 10 speed Shimano cassette is actually narrower than the 9 speed because the largest cog is dished in. Seems like the best course of action would be to run a 10 speed cassette. Didn't you say you already have the SL7900 shifters?
edit: Hold on one second! You said Miche 9 speed cassette- Are you using a Miche cassette that is meant for adapting a Shimano HG hub for use with Campagnolo drivetrains? These are wider than the Shimano 9 speed cassettes. See the Sheldon Brown cog spacing crib sheet. You need a Shimano/SRAM 9 speed cassette.

If icemilkcoffee is correct in saying your custom Michie cassette is wider than the Shimano-specified width for a 9-speed cassette, that may well be your problem.

And what worked on the Cross Check is irrelevant here. Some combos are just not meant to be. I know I've done some myself but I also have backed away from some things that haven't worked.
