Years ago I saw a Masi frameset with a chainring like this at a swapmeet. The seller modified it that way.

Now it one could somehow engage and disengage cogs and run different gearing on each side it would be interesting. No chain shifting, no internal gearing, just flip a lever and go from 40-14 to 34-21. Obviously chain tensioners would be needed.

I'm not into criticizing others bicycles, because there is nothing to gain there. Plus, if they did the work himself, they probably learned a lot from the experience.

You guys are missing the point: if you put a different chainring/cog ratio on one side, the bike will automatically turn in a circle without steering it.

Reminds me, I have to post an update about them from yesterday. All have 38-40t chainrings now, though I'm trying to get 40 or 39's on them. Turns out they'll all need half links too because of their really short track ends.

I really like symmetry in just about everything, so, I "want" to like this bike, but I just can't, my love of function overrides my love of symmetry, it's almost like looking at a face with 4 eyes, its just psychologically disconcerting.
Plus, that stem is my least favorite thing I have seen this week month.

I am not a flipper but have bought two bikes in Portland to keep them from hipster fixie hell and this eases my mind as does Spaghetti Legs having a nice Tommasini on C&V Sales here for a good price trying to keep it off ebay or CL to avoid hipster fixie hell.
