Actually you are correct. I just decided to give it up. Selling everything I have. It served me well for almost 40 years, but I'm finding walking with Mrs. rpen is working better for us. I don't like the cold, the heat, the wind, hills, rain.... I was having a really hard time finding an "ideal" day to ride. I finally just said, "What's the point?"
Make no mistake, I loved it while I was doing it. I have always believed in being aware of the changes needed to cope with aging and not digging in my heels and pretending it isn't happening. . Not riding is probably the biggest one I have faced so far.

That said, I also know of plenty of cyclists that choose to continue to ride into their 70's, so it's a personal decision.

If cycling doesn’t bring joy, there’s no reason to do it (in the manner of the 41, not for transportation). It’s not cooking or anything else essential. There’s a whole world of hobbies and activities out there.

On that subject I should mention my daughter gave me an Apple Watch 5 for my 72nd b'day. What a great exercise tool. And the ability to take ekgs is just astounding. I was visiting with my cardiologist by phone a while back, and he asked if I had the watch so he could see my ekg. That is what prompted me to get it. I have a friend who keeps track of his afib with it. You can double click on the file below and see one.

Despite Illinois being the 2nd flattest state in the USA, I hit 53.8 mph on a downhill according to my Garmin but in true form, Strava reports it as 51.9 mph. Wonder how they calculate it that's different than Garmin.

As a yoot one of those was my first pet, I named him Flash. Used to love flies and mealworms, and exploring my mom's indoor jungle of houseplants plants. Not a gecko, by the way, but rather an anole chameleon, although not a true chameleon either.
