Yeah, it's the kai as someone mentioned. Until the certification for NJS goes through, it's going to be really hard to get. Even then it'll have to compete with the demand for all the shimano chains. The retrogression is a good find -- most of the current is going to National team orders or sponsorship agreements.

Just got an Izumi V Super Toughness. It is so much nicer than the KMC 710SL chains I'd been using. I think I prefer the KMC quicklink (and I believe Izumi offers one) but I'm quite happy with the new chain so far.

Decided to give waxing a try!
£20 on a slow cooker and around £20 on Wax and PTFE.

The Izumi Eco is the best of both worlds:
- Form factor of the Izumi V
- Easy to separate with a chain-breaker like the Izumi V (the K710 is a P.I.T.A to separate with chain breakers for sizing)
- As light as the Izumi V (I believe it's lighter than the K710SL. SL = "super light"
- Quick release of the KMC K710/K710SL
- Low cost of the KMC K710/K710SL
The only upsides that the K710 has that the Eco doesn't is that the K710 is easy to find at local shops that have BMX bikes as it is a popular BMX chain (it's original purpose), and I believe that it's more quiet (if memory serves me correctly).
I've used D.I.D, KMC 710 (multiple versions), Izumi V Super toughness, and Izumi Eco and the Eco was best. The V was more of a bling thing since it was uncommon and pricey.

I'm not a velodrome guy. My fix gears all see only roads and dirt. I love those Izumi Eco chains. Simply very good chains that work. They do not run quietly over Eurasian cogs but I've come to associate drivetrain noise with chains that don't come off (and allow more slack). Now cranksets - I run both 144 BCD (Sugino75) and 110s. Roads have hills. At 67 years old, the hills I love to climb are no longer fun on a 42-24. That sweet Sugino75 will never go lower. (Unless I find a bigger than 24 tooth cog. I've never heard of it to this day. (Took years to hear of a 24 in England. Have yet to find a rare as hen's teeth 144 BCD 1/8" 41.)
With a 110, I can run a 36-24. Game changer. But - chain slack becomes an issue. 110s are (in general) nowhere near as round as that sweet 75. Doing on-the-road wheel flips, often when tired, means that sometimes I don't have the slack set perfectly. Here is where those Eurasian cogs, 1/8" (Mojo) chainrings and Izumi Eco chains rule. Chains stay on. Downhill going very fast over perhaps not smooth roads and tired legs. Bad things not happening? I can live with a lot of noise!
