1970 Peugeot PX-10E… My first bike, bought used in 1971…
New / used upright bars from my free Nishiki Mixte…
Perfect shadow on a late afternoon…
Still a pure joy to ride…
Love the relaxed 72 degree frame angles, the 531 tubing and the extended wheelbase…
Campy Athena crankset with a 1977 Phil bottom bracket, serviced once… The outer chainring has the teeth ground off and polished to act as a chain guard… Works great…

My 1980s Miyata turned into a fixed gear with some nice, vintage parts. Probably too high end for the frame, but I don't care as I really like riding this and it all works really well for me. I ded switch the seat to a Prologo after taking this pic. Probably one of the most comfortable seats I've used.

Here is another one that thinks it is a single speed but shifts to a harder gear at about 12mph, a coaster brake SRAM Automatix

Did you modify hub?
I guess depending on gearing 12mph isn’t that slow. It’s actually about right for a commuter bike if you’re not trying to be like a spandex hamster while running errands.
My take probably isn’t the normal BF take on the subject. If when you get to your destination your shoes go click click all over the floor… maybe the bike is more a toy than transportation, which is fine also, but a different thing.
