A young cyclist by the name of Angus Collins (22) was hit by a truck in Melbourne's west on the 2nd Feb, 2022.

A woman, Arzu Karakoc, was killed in a similar fashion along the same path on 2017. I was also travelling home along the path that day. The bike infrastructure in Melbourne's west is really terrible as it competes with heavy industry, and trucks in particular.

Oscar Montoya - March 4th, 2023 - San Pedro, CA, USA
Struck from behind and left by a hit and run driver, died of his injuries
I did not know him, but he was a neighbor, father and cyclist, riding on a road that is part of my regular bike route
small consolation - driver has been arrested

Didn't know him, but I did run the Fargo Marathon, and in the grand scheme of things, this wasn't too far away.

Les Titus

Les Titus obituary Les was an amiable character and organized supported bike tours through southern Utah for a number of years. Our ride from Moab to Zion was one of my most memorable experiences on a bike. A fun guy, gone too soon, RIP.

Magnus White - 29 July 2023 - Boulder, Colorado, USA

Magnus White Obituary

I think about this kid a lot. He was hit just down the road from where I live, and I pass by his memorial often.

It appears someone has been arrested and charged with his death:

Police arrest woman for crash that killed Junior National Team cyclist Magnus White

This from a local paper:

Woman to be charged in death of Boulder cyclist Magnus White

Steven Kingsley Close - a great guy, Fun and a dedicated runner and cyclist became another victim of the motor vehicle madness we experience in this country.
'Old Man Steve' as he was affectionately called by all in the regular Weekend peloton of racers, performance cyclists and a very few of us elders hanging on in desperation.
We spent a lot of a ride encouraging each other and then greatly enjoying the coffee and conversation in the post-ride sessions.
He was dedicated National level runner and also loved to be in the fast peloton which rode like clockwork, for many decades, in the Santa Barbara area.

He was struck down on a Tuesday Morning, Jan 9 2024 8:30am on a very commonly and oft used road by cyclists from Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties. The 150 is a 2 lane road (1 lane each way) and is a main connector between Carpinteria/Santa Barbara and Ojai.
He was struck from behind with enough force to make him airborne, landing on the car's rear window and shattering it.

He will be greatly missed, we often sat together post-ride and had delightful conversation about the ride and many other things.
SO very sad to lose Steve.
