How to pull Shimano 6503 Ultegra cranks from the BB?

How to pull Shimano 6503 Ultegra cranks from the BB?
I am removing a pretty old set of 6503 Ultegra triple cranks. I have managed to remove the dustcap and the hex bolts on both sides, but I am unable to pull the crank arms away from the BB. Do I need a specific tool for this? As far as I can see, the cranks aren't being held to the BB by anything. They are just freely sitting over the splined notches of the BB.

Reinstall the bolt and 'dustcap'. Then with the dustcap reasonably tight, not Schwartzenegger tight, use allen
wrench to remove the bolt and the crank will come off the axle splines with the bolt. These are 'self-extracting'
cranks. No tool needed. The bolt pushes against the dustcap to pull the crank off.

I'll add that on the 6500 cranks make sure during installation you get the crank/BB splines lined up perfectly before tightening the spindle bolt. Any misalignment can result in feckering up the splines on the crank. Easier to see if you take the dustcap off first.

This is no longer a concern because you can not buy 6503 cranksets anymore. The only triple crankset available in 9 speed is Sora FC-3030. I hate Sora, but I don't have a choice. At least they are cheap.
