Dang it, got another bike...
I just can't say no to vintage touring bikes :'(
A few weeks back this guy popped on FB for $200. I'm in Alaska, were are at the end of the riding season so the chances of it selling were slim. Last week it went down to $100, which was not bad for somebody looking for a bike to ride. This morning it went down to $50... I just can't say no to that. To my surprise this thing is in such pristine shape that it even has the rubber spurs on the original tires! ****, the original tires as supple and in perfect shape.

I didn't need another bike :'( I'm probably going to sell a different one from my stable in order to keep this one.

Holy smokes that is an absolute steal!
That was me several years ago.... nine tourers later I decided maybe that was enough
And this was the exact reasoning I used... but the “going to sell” voice seems to get drowned out by “just one more, I promise”... someone needs to cancel my internet
Excellent score! Looking forward to seeing how you decide to proceed with it— restore and maintain as original, or modify, etc.

Other than a brooks saddle, bar end shifters, and leather wraps I probably should not mess with anything else. I'll probably take the tires out, soak them in 303 protectant, and save them for later. I'm amazed at the condition of the rubber, the bike must have been kept indoors all this time.

Nice!
I vowed not to become a 'collector' after I spied a '79 FUJI-something on my ride home from work last Monday.
Stopped to take a brief peek (no pics, looked really shabby & forlorn, way too small a frame for me to contemplate riding besides the expense of bringing it back to safe, ride-able condition) then spied a Suntour V-GT Luxe DR at the back I thought just might be what I've been looking for to mount on my Motobecane:

(After complete disassembly then clean-up, re-lube, reassemble, it fits just fine thanks!)
So I called the guy, took a closer look Tuesday morning, brought it home for $70.
For the DR alone that's a bit steepish but it also sported an unscarred pair of Dia-comp brake levers w/extensions I've long coveted... despite having to un-tape my 'bar I think they'll fit just fine. Plus a stem-mounted shifter pair that maybe will fit my stem, once I buy some longer cables & sheathes.
The rest'll get 'recycled' though I may be able to use its alloy clincher rims (if they're not cracked anywhere or dinged) built up around a pair of Campy Record hubs identical to those that came with the MB back in '72.

I do have a Specialissima that is too large for me :'( Same color even.
I don't want to sell it, I'm rather hoping I can find somebody to trade frames with. 54cm or smaller would work for me.

That's an awful lot of bike for a Grant (Ulysses, not Petersen!)

I think 'dang it, got another bike...' in the title has the 'wife/significant other filter' on the forums set to 'on'.
Turning it off, I get 'Whoooohoooo snagged another one!'

Desire to proceed has cooled a bit though, having acquired an ’80 centurion pro tour already equipped with said centre-pull posts. Not interested in a swap, but could let that one go outright.
In any case, hope you find something, they’re terrific riding frames.

Wowzers! I have found only one bike ever that was that pristine, and it wasn't as nice a bike, nor as much of a bargain, as that. Congratulations!
