Beautiful day here - 73 degrees and breezy! Did a short 12-mile ride, prior to a planned century on Sunday.
Went down to the lake - looks like they are working on beach restoration. People were crawling on the huge sand piles.
Spotted a weird rig out on the water. Looks like a tug and barge with an excavator on it. Probably related to beach work or harbor dredging.
Student-painted rocks at the NU landfill. Always something new to see.
Outflow from the lagoon.
Chicago rising out of the lake.
Some “season deniers” taking a dip.
The corner of Judson & Greenleaf - starting point for the notorious Judson Ride
Saw a cool C&V water truck - still on the job!
Good late PM light.

Weekend rec ride.
Before the Mt. Fuji view point, I've gotta climb this hill.
A few hundreds yards from the view point.
The pic is the last and steepest part.

The weather was very good, 25C/77F, humidity wasn't too high, the wind and air were cool and nice.
And Mt. Fuji appeared to celebrate a beautiful day.
From the top of some hills of Yokohama, we can see Tokyo bay.
The other side of the bay is Chiba prefecture.
No big ships today.
Shukkon asagao, perennial morning glories, are still in full bloom.
Lemons, yes, we can call them lemons at last.
It was a perfect cycling day!

Charles Roberts, frame-builder, was darned close to Penge at 87 Penge Road (now A213). Also, you mentioned Crystal Palace. Holdsworth's Lullington Road works is where my Grubb and C.B. were built. Is Anerley separate from Penge, or does it encompass it?

By "beach restoration" and "dredging", do you mean replacing sand on the beach that was removed by erosion? I know that Clean Harbors works out of Chicago and other locations on the Lakes, so I'm wondering if this is an environmental effort.

I rode 30 miles today on my almost 30 year old Gary Fisher rigid mtb.(Hoo Koo E Koo).
Started off at 84 degrees and finished at 97 degrees temperature.
Weather app shows a feels like temp factoring in humidity, wind ,etc. at 105. Maybe so. I know I'm glad to be done for today and inside with air conditioning .
I didn't snap many pics today but while resting and cooling down a bit I snapped these .
Those anodized Q/R came originally with the bike I think. (Actually found out they did not)
I added the matching crank bolts.
Full bike from a previous day.
Thought I would add to the morning glory flower pictures.
These are blooming in my backyard.

Took the newly built Kestrel out for a 25 mile shakedown ride. Everything worked great except for the saddle clamp on the seatpost. It slipped twice on the ride even though it seems to be clamped down really hard. Beautiful morning out and the old Kestrel felt pretty good for the most part. I was afraid it was going to be the same dull ride I get with the similar C4 Air One but that was not the case. It did have a hard edge on the ride though when the road surface was a bit rough.

Great riding weather today mid 60's with clear skies with just light wind. Took the Specialized trainer on a ride on the bike trail and then the back roads were it shouldn't go but some great aspen pics and it is actually pretty good on hard pack and gravel it is turning out to be a pretty decent all round beater for a bike that came out of the dumpster.
Nice clear skies.
Did actually walk a bit of this section.
Lots of fall color with nice summer weather.
Made good enough time that there is still a part two to this ride to come.

Last Thursday my friend Lynn and I went on a Troll hunt.
We met up in Bellevue, rode across the 520 floating Bridge into Seattle.
The 1st stop was a visit to the old Freemont Troll

Then off to Ballard to see “Frankie Feetsplinters” in front of the Nordic Museum.

The next one required a ferry ride to Bainbridge Island to see “Pia the Peacemaker”

Ferry back to Seattle, we got plenty of time to go see one more before heading back to our cars.
Off we go to West Seattle via the Alki Trail hugging the shoreline all the way around Lincoln Park.
A short ride along the seawall to Coleman Pool, we find “Bruun Idun” set back in the woods behind the pool, jamming on her flute.

A 20 mile local loop today on my new-to-me fixed gear Nagasawa. This is my 4th ride on this bike and I'm enjoying it more every ride. Our local hilly topography means I can get a good workout on a short ride like this.
The Buddhas on the side of the barn are complacent. They have seen innumerable cyclists and know that the bike and I are but a tiny ripple in the great ocean of being.
The dog is interested enough to sniff a bit but he has other business to attend to.
The ducks are apparently going our way, but very slowly.
Our Lady of the Wooden Boat gives her blessing to my new bike. Hopefully she protects cyclists as well as sailors.

Turned 60 on Thursday, so as is the custom, I rode my age. Did 68 miles up north. Piece of cake after the 75 miles I did in Wisconsin last week (3500 feet of climbing)
Keeping with the birthday theme, I rode by the house from “Sixteen Candles”. Close as I could get to a “Sixty Candle House”. Looks the same as it did back in 1984.
They finished repaving Telegraph Road. Did a great job - still needs to be striped.
Looked like this when I rode it a few weeks back.
Wooden rail crossing on Old School Road. Seems to hold up pretty well and isn’t too bad to ride over. Don’t see many of these anymore.

I found a rare vintage car today.
