As long as the rims are tensioned, it shouldnt ever be an issue ---- a hanging bicycle only exerts 20-30 pounds of gravitational force (unless its a beach cruiser or downhill bike or something ) ----
realizing its in a different plane of motion, but we put far more force on a wheel than that when riding

Bike cave, beer cave, reloading cave, gunsmithing cave, sticker making cave, listening to loud music cave, guitar playing cave..... As usual I'm working on several things at once. Pretty cramped so most of the bikes are stored in the house. This was originally built as a dog kennel if you notice the heavy broom finish on the slab. The end doors open to a 12x12 slab so I can work on things out there as well.

What is the elevated chainstay MTB in your pic ? I am still drawn to that design . Being a Yeti fan, i harken back to the Yeti Ultimate as a bike i really lusted after back then, but i remember the Nishiki Alien, almost anything from Mantis, and some Alpinestars bikes too

The actual hanging doesn't cause problems but getting a bike's wheel onto and off of a hook, or dropping the bike while wrestling with it, might. Stored mine for decades like this and worked in shops where it was also the practice.

I keep my bikes compactly stored in one corner of the garage. I figure reduced footprint means less unwanted attention. Plus it's harder for others to count them! How many do you see?
I also use the garage as a "Pain Cave", but when not in use, it's easily cleared away and condensed to a smaller area.

Man, some of these spaces are bigger than our apartment. Very envious of these photos. I have an old Colnago that is currently in our dining room nook and my wife is shooting me daggers.

This is the bicycle area of a large (26' x 36') garage, a 10' x 20' space below the garage loft. The row of bikes along the right wall will be moved to pulley-rack parking suspended from the rafters high in the sloping ceiling above the main garage area and that wall will have a row of windows installed high in that wall just below the loft rafters with workbenches along that side.
Bike hangers pictured below will be bolted to the sloping rafters above.
Eventually the excess bikes will be winnowed leaving a mere two or three. Someday.

I painted my garage bike room in a design inspired by iconic, classic cycling jerseys. My wife had a lot of fun picking out colors for the main house, so I thought I'd have fun with the garage paint.

Its really strange how much room bikes can take up in space.....
Even if you do things like offset the handlebars by hanging them in alternating orientation.
I have them so close together that its sometimes hard to pull them out without getting them snagged on the bikes next to them.
