It used to be Shimano's STIs seems to have a non-detented trim feature, so that you could push it just a little bit when in the small ring to allow the cage to clear the chain in smaller cogs, without there being a "click". My old 7401s had it, and I'm pretty sure the 7800s I'm running on the Ritchey (with a 7400 FD) work the same.

Choosing tires is already a problem. I'm running GP5000s on my 2 favorite Sunday Ride bikes, the Litespeed and the Canyon. Plain GPs on the Battaglin and Ritchey. Vittoria Corsas on the Bianchi, and an assortment of cheaper tires on the C&V bikes.

It is a triple, but the derailer seems to be really wide compared to my 105, my thought process, could be rigged to only work the two chain rings with the different cable pull? In my mind I think it would work, but I don’t know much. I mean I could just set it up and only use the big ring?

Stupid question of the day, well 2 stupid questions of the day.
Question number 1. If I were to buy a 105 R7000 rear derailer, cassette, and shifters, could I get buy with the triple upfront for a little while? I wouldn’t be able to use all three chain rings obviously, But if I could only use the outer and the middle that would work. Reason I ask, I need 175 cranks arms and it seems the 105 group sets are always out of stock. I can do piece meal but the price is more than I want to spend at once time.
Question number 2. How do I know if my rear chain stay is wide enough to take an 11 speed wheel? The ritchey was built in 2001. I don’t want to order wheels and then they don’t fit.

Granted the cranksets are 52/36, but just go with the a 32 or 34 tooth cassette. That would be the same as a 50-34 and 30 tooth cassette
10 and 11 speeds take are the same width, just a spacer on the wheel if the hub can take either.

Maybe Bob's doing Spanish pronunciation, in deference to them being in Spain.

My GCN+ subscription has the Vuelta blocked in USA so I paid $5 for Peacock, with Bob Roll and Christian VandeVelde. Weak sauce.

My first compact (50x36) was in 2014 and I thought it was great. So great, I put a compact Campy 50x36 on my Gianni Motta. Then last year, I buy a Colnago with a 52x36 and now it's my favorite. I'll bet that I'd like a 53x39, also.
