Last week, my Tues/Wed/Thu rides were all weird - high HR and RPE for the speed I managed to go. I took two days off, did a long but relaxed Sunday ride and took yesterday off. Today's ride was tied for the fastest on that route, and the same speed as last Thursdays, but the difference in HR and RPE is stark - last week by the last 10 miles of the ride it was basically a death march. Today, I felt like I was mostly taking it easy.
Last Friday:
HR avg: 140
HR max: 163
Today:
HR avg: 128
HR max: 154
Wind and weather conditions were similar, maybe 4 degrees warmer last Thursday than today.
Last Thursday after my ride, I was toast - sleepy, weary, basically empty, and it only got marginally better with food. Today I feel fine, just the usual post ride tiredness in the legs.Weird.

In the NAU dorms there was one station that played the football games, but the audio was always wack. Usually it was just the ambient audio, no commentary. Sometimes no audio at all, and occasionally the full meal deal.

Remembered the song with misunderstood lyrics.

I find this sport to be incredibly weird. Some days, I feel super rested but have no legs and my HR is spiked putting out very little effort. Some days I feel exhausted and can crank it out.

I forget the last time I mentioned the drama on our Wednesday rides. There would always be a an instigator or two who just could not, ahem, curb his enthusiasm and of course the ride would blow up. I got fed up with trying to keep everyone together and told the fast guy I was changing my ride time from 830 to 820 so there would be a totally separate ride. That was a few weeks ago. It seems to have solved the problem.

From outside. A month's worth of rain in one day onto ground already sodden from the heavy rain the week before. The bike garage sits lower than the house and car garage. my drive had flooded so I suspected I've have problems. It's the first time it's flooded in the 6 years I've lived here. It's been the wettest July since 1943.

It was downright frigid earlier this morning.
