If it fits I would have bought it several days ago.....Many pooh-pooh Crescents for their workmanship, but this one was their top of the line model.
It would have had Campagnolo groupo on it.

I was repping when GS came out and we carried them. You could get Shimano compatible or Sun Tour, either in 6- or 7-speed, mountain or road. Made for a lot of SKUs. I set up a sample bike with the MTB 7-speed Shimano and it worked well but I never used the drop bar versions.

I understand how they worked. I sold and installed both types back then. The point is, the early GS road shifters and the early GS MTB shifters were more like each other than they were like versions that came after. The proliferation of Grip Shift on production bicycles--"the MTB ones which are everywhere"--came after the radical redesign of the units.
