Chicago (Palatine) Swap 1/31/16
Had a nice day at the swap today. Met a few friends for coffee in the morning and headed over. Then stopped afterwards with the same group for some wings and a beer.
Picked up some universal brake levers and center pulls, a few chainrings, an Ultegra group minus the hubs and headset. A few other odds and ends. Oh, and some much needed jockey wheels for a NR-RD
Found a pair of mystery hubs, 120mm rear spacing, pressed bearings, hand engraved...... Mondo 2000??
As I was leaving at around noon I bought an autographed poster of EM and a big EM calender from 2005, and a toolbox with bike stickers all over it, that had 3 Campy T-wrenches and a DA freewheel tool inside.
Saw a gorgeous PX10 frameset in my size........kind of regret not bringing it home for $225

That PX 10 was sweet looking. What a deal. There were a couple Raleigh Internationals that looked like great deals. $800 each or both for $1400. I bet he would have gone lower. All I got from the show was practice.

As I was leaving a guy was walking out with a Colnago Master that he said he bought for $600 out of the Coral first thing in the morning. OMG was that thing sweet. Not the best components on that build but for $600, a smoking deal.

Great seeing a few of you. Sorry I don't do well connecting to one's handle here- Joe, John, Steve and from Champaign, Seabass. Place sure looked packed. Mostly later stuff, but there was some very nice vintage pieces hidden among the plastic frames and wheels.
The small PX10 frameset was certainly tidy and clean. Those decals, and if original were in amazing condition. The pair of Raleigh Internationals... 90% originals and both very nice.
Kudo's to the guy rolling out the door with gorgeous 90's era Colnago Master for a song. (snickering at big guys John and Steve tag following the proud new owner as he heads to his car...LOL)
And the two of you guys above seeking that Merckx, can't blame you! Dressed and oozing cool parts. If any nitpick, would say it was a lackluster powder coat. Nor the original color but the owner received the decals from Greg Softly and based his paint color selection from them. Pretty enough close and the repro decal work is beautiful. I know the seller, very cool fellow, can't speak for him and what his bottom line was. He's not on these forums but PM if you need his number. He told me someone else really shot him a lowball and between all of us here, c'mon it had beautiful condition early Super Record stuff. I think a tear-down, smooth out sanding, careful around the 'cals and have a pro applied urethane clear would make it a standout.
Lastly was a vendor whom purchased at the show a Wastyn frameset. A terrific piece of Chicago cycling history, hope he pipes in sometime and maybe start thread about it. Regret I hadn't taken a pic. (cheers for the toe-clips)

I walked the swap and didn't find anything too interesting. The Merckx was nice. The same guy brought a Frejus last year that sold for $400!
I entered the show right behind the seller of the Colnago. Didn't even think to ask him what he was asking for it, figuring it would be over $1000.
Talked with Steve and John a bit.
My brother found a nice titanium framed Brooks Swift for $70.
Anyone notice the blue Mercian, 21", Campy triple cranks, asking was $950. Beautiful bike.
Anyway, kept my money in my pocket. I've bought a couple nice bikes on the 'bay recently. I should have gotten a table, I have too much stuff. Maybe look into the Chicago show in the city coming up. Would love to unload all my "junk".

I went just to see what was what. Spent $0 but saw more vintage stuff than I normally do. Hemmed and hawed a tad too long and missed the Kreitler rollers.
