This is the first bike I ever bought new. IIRC, I paid $210 for it in 1975. Recently I restored it with minimal changes to see how it had held up over the years.
The only change is a new set of alloy handlebars, new cables and Paul "Love Levers". I believe it's the only cottered-crank bike in this whole thread.
It is actually a delightful bike to ride. The friction shifting is sort of fun...

Paul brake levers cost almost as much as the bike when it was new. I had them on hand for another project that never materialized, so... :-)

Quick question: there's a local seller here, with a Motobecane Super Sprint. In beige/yellowish/creme. Front fork seems chrome/metal. A quick google search doesnt reveal much as in build-year. quality, etc. As far as I can see it has Vitus tubes. 2 x 5 gears.

I installed the new Brooks B17 saddle and microfiber bar tape on my 1976 Motobecane Grand Touring. I also took the opportunity to install a shorter reach stem. I think the saddle and tape look better than the black saddle and tape on it prior to the switch. Proofide treatment is done, and now I just need to ride and start breaking it in.

Now that I’ve made ten posts, I wanted to post a couple of photos of my ‘new’ 1984 Motobecane Grand Jubilee. I saw this bike on Craigslist, and went to take a look. That’s how I met member Pilotfishbob, found out about this forum, and got a really nice bike at a fair price. As a bonus Bob threw in a bag full of goodies, shared a lot of knowledge, and patiently answered all of my newbie questions. After my first few short rides, a couple of spokes became loose. Bob invited me back over to adjust the spokes and true my wheel. Then, Bob was patient enough to show me how to replace a tube, allowing me practice on one of his wheels.
I got a nice ‘new’ bike, met a new friend, and gained a lot of new knowledge. I couldn’t find a speck of dirt on this 36 year old bike!
