Help to identify new bike, please

Greetings! I normally hang out in the Classic and Vintage forums, but today I got a BMX for my 11 year old, and I can't seem to identify the brand. It has a bunch of Mongoose branded parts on it - but honestly ... it could be anything judging by the seller, if you know what I mean.
Here is the serial number stamped below the BB.

The 11 year old is already in love, had to take the bike away - it came without a brake, and he already wants to ride it all the time!

Many thanks in advance!

How about posting a picture of the entire bike? That might help a bit,...

Late 90's Mongoose race bike - '97-'99 Mongoose Menace maybe?

Doesn't look quite right for a supergoose, but I could be wrong.

I think you nailed it! The hump in the top tube and everything. Thank you!

Are you going to be racing it? My race bike is a steel FMF bike only a couple years newer.

No, it's for my kid to ride. Now, whether he will be racing it in the future ... who knows?

Nice. Glad he likes it - that's a cool bike. A freind of my son's showed up for their first race yesterday with an old looptail. Was pretty awesome. For a brake, any old V-brake will work to get him going - it would have been a V-brake on a race bike by that point anyway.

Enjoy!
