Folders you regret selling?
Dear Bikeforums,
For the past 12 years, my Xootr Swift has been my trusty companion...good and bad times. However, I've recently picked up a Miyata 1000LT--and I only have space for one bike.
Do you guys ever regret selling your folding bike?
Also, which model?

But...but...but....the other one is a folder!!! put it under a bed or in the back of a closet and see if you can live without it for a while before you sell it.

Maybe selling my Downtube NS8 set up with road race groupsets and STI briffers.
Was intending to do a dual drive set up.
Damn that would have been nice.
This lighter version now out of production.
I had too many bikes and continue to have too many bikes......

I sold my Bike Friday Tikit to finance a new Brompton with a BWR 6 speed hub..The Tikit was really great to ride compared to my Brompton..sadly it folded like a bag of spanners (wrenches in USA speak)..

I'd take my Dahon TR tourer back now and put a Bafang BBS02 motor on it. Although I'm not sure the v-brakes would be enough to stop it.

I feel like I should back away from selling my swift.
Will hide it somewhere and breathe slowly and deeply.
I'll have to see how much I use it in the next few months.

That's my rule for getting rid of anything - set it aside and see if you miss it. I usually go 3 months for little stuff and 6 months for big stuff (a Swift is big stuff imo). They don't make 'em anymore so it's not like you can just go out and buy another later on if you decide you want one.

I have the opposite problem, folders I've never sold. Seriously. At least half a dozen Bike Fridays, three Dahons, a Brompton, a Fuji, an early Montague I converted to an urban bomber, and probably more that aren't immediately coming to mind. Yes, I still have them all.
Now there's one folder (actually a separable) which I regret not buying: an F-frame Moulton for $20 USD maybe a decade ago. What dissuaded me at the time was heavy rust and I didn't feel like doing a complete resto on it....but for twenty bucks? Seeing what they go for now, probably should have pulled the trigger. Oh well.

Sure, I've thought of that, then I usually wait until the thought passes.
None of my folders is in the project stage, they're all complete and ready to ride. Most of them reside in suitcases or bags in my attic. Do I ride them all? No, I have my favorites and I tend to ride those more. The ones that don't get much love would probably be the first to go.
But there is a method to my madness. I've toyed with the idea of launching my own website, devoted completely to reviews of my folders. Even have a possible domain name for it, I've checked and it is available. But if I did this, I wouldn't do a half-baked job. I'd plan out which reviews I'd want to do, the places I'd go to do test rides, etc. I realize that one of the best ways to kill a website is to not update it periodically, so once I'm in, I'd have to devote a significant amount of time and effort to make it successful, and it would be an ongoing project instead of a one-off lark. That's when I usually sit down and wait for that thought to pass.

Well, I'd read it if you did it. There were a couple folder websites I followed but I think the owners lost motivation. Maybe it was too much work when they'd rather be riding.

My 64 Moulton 4-Speed was my primary bicycle for forty years. Unfortunately, as my body aged I could not adjust it to be comfortable. And, I couldn't bear to Frankenbike it. I put it up for adoption in 2004.
