Brifters with mustache bars?

Brifters with mustache bars?
Brifters with mustache bars? Anyone? Finding myself not liking drops on my Lemond Tourmalet. Shimano 600 9speed. Thinking of changing them to mustache bars. I'd like to keep the brifters, for the sake of keeping things simple. Only probable trouble I can see is if the shift levers work ok at that angle.......

I hated it when I tried it a few years on my (then) commuting bike. As you mentioned, shifting was awkward and so was braking because the lever tended to move down when I grabbed it. As with all things on these forums, the preceding is one person's opinion and ymmv as the saying goes. Good luck in your quest to find something that works better for you!

Gave in and ordered a shorter stem with more rise. Got the drop bars up to seat level. Think I’ll be ok with that.
I’ve got three levels fused in my neck and mobility is somewhat limited!

I regularly ride a 1-gear bike with road brake levers on its mustache bar. After I saw this thread, just for ****zngigglz while riding it I tried to imagine brifter shifting on it and to be candid it didn't feel like anything I'd be interested in.
I think the pic in the last post of the bike set up for it pretty much shows why it is not a great idea - better to stick with barend shifters on mustache handlebars

I have 10 speed ultegra shifters on my moustache bars. I had 10 speed dura ace. I prefer the Ultegra. Not the best shifting with heavy winter gloves but not bad in warmer weather. I find braking to be far superior than on drop bars. YMMV
