If the “next” MR2 gets made, and looks like that, I may seriously consider getting one no matter the drivetrain ends up being.
Selling my mkII MR2 was a difficult decision, one which makes me sigh to this day.

The whole thing has me wondering why they still haven't come out with a new version of the El Camino? Or, at the very least, just put out a pickup that sits as low to the ground as a regular car. I'm sure it would sell super well. But then, what do I know? I'm just a guy looking for a manual transmission, rear-wheel drive station wagon...

Holden (GM) made cool "utes" for the Australian market. There was some desire to bring them in alongside the Pontiac GTO (a rebadged Holden Commodore) but then Pontiac disappeared after 2008. You can try these guys if you want to get one in the U.S.: https://www.lefthandutes.com/

Here's your RWD station wagon, a Holden Calais:

It's crazy how many pickup trucks are starting to show up in my neck of the woods (where, of course, there aren't actually any woods). You used to see a few here and there, almost exclusively driven by contractors or construction workers, but now it seems like any 'American' dude around here between the ages of 20-60 wants a pickup. It's a little ridiculous, in my opinion, as they are essentially a waste of space around here, but whatever...

And here's some more of my recent spots around the city. Again you must see many more of these than we ever do over here, but I spotted this classic recently, a 1953 Cadillac Coupe Deville, and this one is spotless.

A Lambo Espada,

And here's a really nice example of a 70's British 'shooting brake' that you may not be that familiar with on your side of the pond, a Scimatar GTE.

Liked that very much too. A friend had one but didn't like it all because of it beeing a typical 80's Lancia. Maybe this picture shows why shooting brakes were so rare:

Shooting brakes seem difficult to proportion right. In the picture above it looks like a sleak, low and long car, in the same colour it also looks like just another hatchback for the family that couldn't afford four doors. The (only?) shooting brake from the sixties was a bit of an opinion divider too.

I like it, but because it's got character, not because it's pretty from every angle. This is quite a good angle, from some other angles it just doesn't seem right. I tend to like cars that are unusually proportioned like the Espada (also an opinion divider, but I absolutely love it) and the Lancia is nice because of a lot of things besides it's basic shape, but the Reliant Scimitar seems the only one that really got the shooting brake shape down.

Aaah the great P1800 E. I’ve passed on one about (let’s just say) “some” time ago. A fine example, BRG, 1973, well cared for... if it doesn’t say anything about my idiocy, I don’t know what would

I actually really like the (older and so actually affordable) Porsche Panamera for it's layout, but they never sold the manual transmission for the US market.
A friend of mine in Italy had this Alfa that I really liked, and it looks even better in person:

Nice. A buddy in the early '90s had a handful of classic Alfas, including a 2600 Spyder.

Those were great cars, and got a lot of people to wonder why they marketed the rest of their cars to the antidestination league.

That's why I always liked the Mercedes CLS since it came out, imo only the rear end is really pretty, but it's made to look low and sleek. I hoped that turned the trend, but it didn't really. It's not just that SUV's are ugly usually, they make a city uglier by blocking views when parked too. And on the road you can't look through them or look over them or look down on them when on a bike. Even if you don't care about cars or you're on the wrong side of the opinion divider, a city full of Lamborghini Espada's would be much nicer than a city full of SUV's.

I always liked this 1976 MB 250. Drove it all around Germany and NL from 1986-90 with my family of five, with a few trips to Paris, as well as Salzburg and London. Only reason I bought it was my wife insisted on an automatic and this was the only one I could find in 1986. It did ride nicely and reliably. I also had a 1976 BMW 525 for a short time which looked good but was one mechanical problem after another and I got rid of it quickly for a German Spec Corolla which ran like a top on the street and Autobahn.
