But it carries the UCI stripes in the correct order of Blue, Red, Black, Yellow, Green so the frame must still be practically perfect, right?

I find it funny when sellers say "all its need is crank, wheels and chain."

Me thinks it needs more than that.

Was this a stupid unsafe fixie with what amounts to a hands' width of handlebar on each side on the stem?

I started gagging when I saw the bit about "extremely rare Ross", then I saw the "from France" part and realized this was either a BS artist or simply someone who had no clue, and then: I saw that the Tourney Crank "alone is worth $150" and I'm going with BS artist. Perhaps a civic minded individual could put a burning bag o' feces on sellers door step, ring the bell and run......

Ross 1983 Tour to France - $65 (Royal Oak)

This is 1983 touring bike arrow speed or I guess you could say extremely rare Ross bike from France everything you see is what you get price is $65 absolutely no less. The crank is worth all of 150 bucks alone

Don't buy a 21 year old K2 Razorback for $95 bucks and post it the same day for 3 times that unless you have put in the work to make it a decent bike for someone to ride. It probably needs cables, seat, chain work, and seals and service on shocks.
since it sounds like you have some experience with this particular scenario, do you have any details on how to rebuild a Fox Float RL K2 Razorback rear shock? Can't find any specs on fluid type (beyond Fox FLOAT Fluid) or amount, and can't quite tell whether FLOAT is just for seals and you use a thinner weight to fill the shock or what. I'm totally lost here.

I was simply quoting the rant that an unknown person posted on Craigslist.

As for knowledge about forks like that I'd suggest you post in either the bicycle mechanics forum or under the mountain bike forum

I understand there are legitimate reasons for single speed conversions. But I think many times people just don't know how to adjust or repair derailleurs and freewheels and they hear single speed conversions are a thing. I think this may have just been a thing.

https://tulsa.craigslist.org/bik/d/t...347046105.html

Early 80s road bicycle that I converted into a single-speed. Great for commuting or just fun rides. Could use a new set but that's it. Bike lock included.

Great pictures, really great.

Also I like that the bike still has the original solar panels on the front and rear.

Talk about optimistic pricing, $200 for a Gran Turismo, matchbox front derailleur (Gran Sport?) and shifters...

Yeah, the F.der. isn't even a Gran Sport, it's a Valentino (as are the shifters). A Valentino looks like a Gran Sport from a few feet away, but there are actually zero parts in common. Every single Valentino part, down to the smallest nut, is more cheaply made and uglier than on the Gran Sport. They probably shift about the same, but the market value of a GS is about 10x that of a Valentino, due to the finer finish, the much older vintage, and the rarity..

I used to collect the front clips that hold Valentino mechs to the seat tube, to use as drawer pulls. I have probably a dozen. The rest of the mechs went in the trash.

Here's another ebay seller trying to pawn off a Val as a GS; asking price is $345!! Actual value of a Val in that condition is maybe $34.50 max. if I'm feeling generous. Normally a reputable seller, but the've been alerted more than once (not only by me) that this is a Valentino. So they can't claim ignorance anymore. It's a bit disturbing, that they don't care more about their reputation than about the few extra dollars they can wring from some unsuspecting victim.

I can list all the tell-tales that let you distinguish a Val from a GS if there's interest. Suffice it to say, there isn't any grey area or controversy, the distinction is 100% clear-cut with no overlap.
