They thought about stopping the bolt head from rotating. Nice idea. Well, I guess there's nothing new under the sun, we're just creating new iterations of old stuff

Robvolz , I pulled that picture from a Rene Herse blog post, so I don't have direct knowledge. IIRC, it was one of Jan Heine's bikes- my guess is he had the Nitto drilled and tapped- I seem to recall maybe there was a BQ bit, or another blog post somewhere about doing it. I've thought about doing it on a couple of my rides that have Nittos....

Big discussion on the frame builders forum on the intelligence of drilling a stem. Some say instant death, others say they do it all day.
I hate the look of most stem clamps, I might give it a try.

The truth is probably somewhere in the middle. I wouldn't be at all surprised if it creates a stress riser in some stems, that will eventually crack.

I'm somebody who has "done it all day" and never had a stem fail due to that hole and countersink drilled.
So I surmise (and have not had UL testing done) that there is very little critical stress in that part of a typical quill stem, that gives rise to any real and present danger...stress riser or not.
But...YMMV

Free 700C Front Wheel and Tire- Atlanta ITP

It's not vintage but it's a good wheel. Tire is a 700x 32C Continental Touring Plus. If there is a better forum to offer parts for free then please advise. I have this listed on cl but I will gladly gift it to any Bike Forums member who wants it for their own use. Please send a dm to arrange pickup.

ISO Cyclone FD & RD...

Yeah, I know there are plenty on eBay, but just figured I'd ask here first... Looking for a F & R Suntour Cyclone derailleur set, ideally the earlier version, GT rear.. Crusty and dusty is fine, as long as working/all there. Thx!

edit- found a set.

ISO - Road pedals. English threaded. Platform, SPD or combo. Low - mid end preferred. Cosmetics not a concern. Hoping to locate 2-3 pairs in all.

Have various items available for trade.

Have several. PM me some preferences. They will likely be pretty darn cheap.

pretty sure I have a pair of "combo" that fit this description. I'll try to remember to find them and snap pix, they will certainly have "low-mid cosmetics", IIRC.

I also have a perfect spot for another combo pair. (I have two or three so far, and I love them almost as much as bar-cons.)

saddle quest

maybe there's someone out there who bought a brooks imperial and didn't like it and would want to trade for a basically-new Brooks B17 or C13?

Hey all, I'm looking for the right side of a vintage silver Blackburn lowrider rack (pictured). I, unfortunately, lost mine in an accident recently, and it didn't survive my bending it back into shape. There are a few relevant eBay listings, but they're very expensive and include more than just the right side I'm looking for. If anyone has one in un-damaged condition they'd like to get rid of, feel free to reach out. I'm willing to buy or trade, but I don't have much of value to trade for.
