I guess kids grew up faster back then. It's hard to imagine a parent letting his/her 16 year old go on a biking tour of 'Western Montana, Idaho, Washington, and some of Canada' by himself. Or with a stranger he met through a posting on Bicycling magazine.

While you guys are focused on the Motobecane guy's style, I'd like to know how many of you do your bike maintenance in white tennis gear.....and if you do, how long does it stay white. I can't even walk by a bicycle without some grease transferring mysteriously (and unbeknownst to me until my better half points it out).....

I'm ogling over that touring gear. Who wouldn't want their whole pannier/rack back setup to transform into Optimus Prime? Imagine touring 1,000 miles to the start of the PCT, and being able to throw the whole works on your back.

I must say I still like the women's styles from the 70's, either that or the women back then were more attractive... The men's styles were sorely lacking.

I swear I've seen couches and curtains made from the same fabric as the cover dude's pants.
But really, that was back when models and celebrities still mostly looked like the average person could relate to them. They're mostly made of various combinations of plastic, anabolic steroids, and botulinum toxin now.

70's Shoes
The Flagg Bros shoes from my youth (in the 60's) had Cuban Heels and pointy toes that you could walk up a chain link fence in! Squash roaches in the corner too!!!
