Evaluation request 1979 Carlton Criterium 63x57
This is a 1979 Carlton Criterium, I was told 'one of the last out of Worksop'. Approx 63cmX57 (ctc) with 22cm headtube.
I am the second owner, and it was one of my last acquisitions - so less than 50miles from me. Original owner said it was a gift to him and too large, so he rode it almost never and lightly.
HiTen tubing, no derailleur hanger, Suntour drivetrain, Weinmann brakes/levers, Raleigh branded crank, Atom 600 pedals. 700c wheels with Raleigh Made in England rims, smooth brake tracks. Original handlebar covering. Replacement tubes (presta) & tires.
Paint in very, very good condition. Couple of chips. One decal damaged a bit. No dents or dings.

Essentially a step down from what was sold in the US as the Super Course 12 in 1979, as the components are about the same except the notable use of center-pull calipers for this model, and otherwise the Super Course 12 featured butted 531 main tubes. Carlton frequently used the full 1" increments for the English market bicycles (as this one is) while the American market got the half inches (English - 23, 24, 25... American - 23.5, 24.5, 25.5) presumably because we were taller customers on average. That being said, I'm curious if you could get an exact measurement on the seat tube from center-to-top - it would either be 25" or 25.5."
I think on eBay you might be able to fetch about $300-400 because of its condition and the fact that it's already been imported. Around here (BF) you might have to settle in the $250 range. (EDIT: I'll note that those prices come with the huge caveat that you'll have to wait for the right sort of buyer.)

Seat tube CTT = 25.5"
I did not speak at length with the original owner about this bike, more about his vintage MiniCooper S - i drove a std mini in college. The 700c wheels made me assume he had brought it from UK. His speech led me to believe he was Scottish.
The 'problem' with selling this one = as a rider it has $100 value (hardly worth the trouble of selling), and the tubeset turns off collector/riders.
Likely going to a worthy co-op, hopefully to someone needing a dependable rider.
