Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

BBinfinite would be nice but wife said no to the 230 dollars.

https://www.excelsports.com/wheels-m...bottom-bracket

This looks correct, Don’t know why this one says direct fit though.

I'm not married to an endurance freak by any stretch. Mine will go 10 or 20, maybe 30, depending on her mood as she shares some of VV's issues. If she drops, I just keep going. But, she's one I enjoy riding with the most on a regular basis.

Wife does bike laundry, and I do maintenance and serve as her bike valet.

Rain activity this evening. The lawn should rejuvenate this week.

Big if true. I actually have a Halo product a bought several years ago and never opened. Not sure if it's the same thing. I'm skeptical it can keep my eyes dry.

When I was working this was a real problem, sweat running on my glasses and my glasses would slide down my nose and sometimes fall off. Glad I don't have to deal with that anymore!

so what does the 90 mean.

On competive cyclist I have found plenty that list the 24mm for the spindle but I have only found one 24x90 and that is getting the same one I had before which I don’t really want to do. Failing at 6,000 miles seems a little premature.
Do you have a Shimano crank?

I think that just means you put the crank straight in, no adapter. That one'll do it too.

I don't know how this is possible. Once the sweat breaches the headband and starts running down my forehead, it's a constant battle to keep it out of my eyes. If conditions are sweaty enough, inevitably I'll end up squinting/tying to see out of one eye until I have to stop altogether to mop up my eyes/forehead. Such a pain.

Heres what you want if you can’t just replace the bearings.

https://wheelsmfg.com/bottom-bracket...nks-black.html

The one you found looks right and might be fine too. Just never heard of it. I have a Wheels Mfg 24mm BB on my R3 and it’s been good.

Have you considered only riding when it's below 55° F?

Thanks for the help bah humbug, and Mo. Ended up ordering the one mo posted from CC.com. Should arrive in a couple of days.

Sweat problems, mine have multiplied since I started wearing glasses. Seems like it constantly falls on my glasses now. Makes seeing kind of hard.

How long do bottom brackets usually last you guys/gals, and how often if at all do y’all service them. Mine had 6877 before it went kapooie.

Sweat isn't a problem. Sweat in the eyes is the problem.

FWIW I got about 40K out of my Shimano Ultegra 6700 BB. Sounds like yours lived a hard life and died young.

I wanted to add. Pop out the dust shield clean the bearings with solvent. Then soap and water. Blow dry with compressed air. Push some grease in there and pop the grease seal back in.. if it just dry it's OK to fix it, as long as it's not crunchy feeling.

Ho-lee! I ate a whole medium pizza yesterday after that 105 mile ride. I did choke down 2 cliff bars during the ride. I still can't stand eating while riding, just the thought makes my stomach knot up. But all bets are off after the ride is over, hide your women and children!
I think I was in bed before 9pm and still didn't want to get up this morning for work.
Legs feel surprisingly good. A little fatigue but no stiffness or sorness.
