I agree that the serendipity layout of the pictures is not inviting, but if you read the journals, which are the main sources for the images, the layout makes a lot of sense. If you want to see some really awesome touring photos, look up Philip Malone's journals on Crazyguy. There are other good photographers on the site, but Philip is my favorite.
BTW, Stephan, I have checked out your blog, and if you had put your journals on crazyguy, I might have said that you were my favorite.

Try PackJournal.com. Basically the update that CrazyGuyOnABike needs, with a better layout, maps of photos and journals, a mail drop store so you can resupply yourself online, an app so you can write journals offline in your phone and upload them later (with a dark color scheme to save your phone's battery), and charity fundraising right on your page. It's all free and you can even keep a portion of the donations you raise for charity.

I would also suggest that this thread (or a thread dedicated to touring photos) be made a sticky like the loaded bicycle photo thread.

The advantage of Crazyguy is that it has a singular focus on bike touring. One doesn't have to search the blogosphere to find touring journals. I agree that the format is outdated, but it serves a purpose and is easy to use. As long as the control of CGOAB remains in the hands of one cash strapped developer, the format is not going to change any time soon, so those of us who are content to use it for what it offers will continue to post journals and photos there.

I'm again gonna point to PackJournal.com as the update that CrazyGuyOnABike.com has needed for at least a decade. It's new, so doesn't have as much content on it...yet...but a much better format, great new features added specifically with touring cyclists in mind, and it's just as easy to use (if not more, due to the offline-friendly app).

Not trying to say it's terrible. It serves a purpose. For me, Quality over Quantity. I would rather read a few nice, well-laid-out blogs and web magazines like Bunyan Velo, The Radavist, Bikepackers Magazine, etc. than try and sift through thousands of poorly organized and user-infriendly stories that may or may not be relevant to my own trip (since many of them were done in different decades). Roads/routes/services change monthly.

There are more. It's a new site, so there aren't loads of users yet, and lots of people set their privacy to only share journals with registered users, or only with their followers. It looks like I'm about the only one who regularly posts journals publicly.
