Bikes: Several Italian bikes from the 50's - 83, 4 English Lightweights (1949-1970), Riding bikes-Trek 760, SOMA Triple Cross gravel bike, SOMA SAGA DC touring bike, Pivot Les Fat for winter riding and long distance bikepacking. One modern Carbon bike.

Carbondale, CO to Steamboat via Quiet Roads
Cottonwood Pass to Gypsum, west to Dotsero, North to Burns, then up and up... then east to Toponas, 134 to Gore Pass, north then up and over Lynx Pass / the GDMRB to Steamboat. Reverse, then home to C Dale.

Tar balls for when crude oil or (heavier refined petroleum products) mixes with water. The river flows into the Atlantic just north of the city, where there is shipping and petroleum-related industry.

Bought my rig in 2010, but haven't toured as hoped. Have done several bike overnites, including recently to NJ's Bass River State Forest some 47 miles away from home.
Kept it simple, choosing not to cook or make coffee, so I didn't even really fill my panniers.
Hoping to do one more such outing before the end of October, when most state campsites shut down.

Just got back from a tour through France, Spain, and Portugal. The weather was crazy, from 40 C heat to torrential hail, rainfall, and thunderstorms

We have camped in the general area but always travelled by car to get there.
Now that availability of time is not a major issue, I’m contemplating beginning with shorter touring trips and see how it goes.
I like the thoughtful warning about not picking up anything… perhaps, unexploded grenade. 🤪
