Best stage race of the year. TDF gets the headlines but Giro is underrated in my opinion.

giro is second fave gt of the year behind the vuelta but because it arrives on the calendar first-last year excepted-it's like that first breath of fresh air in the high mountains. heady and exhilarating.
the giro always includes a few circus acts and ridiculous decisions regarding routes/finishes so there's always a stage or two with controversy regarding rail tracks, 90 degree bends in the finishing straight,
riding mountain goat tracks, excessive road furniture, et al. there are also always a few crazy hard stages. vuelta is crazy too but at least they keep the stages generally shorter for fresher racing
and if they don't involve the angliru that edition, it doesn't amp up the incredulousness as much as the giro.

since the vuelta is the last gt of the year, there are always more than a few riders looking to secure a new contract and/or make a good impression after a season of injuries and/or blah performances.
since the giro is the first gt of the year, there are always more than a few riders looking to make a good impression and/or carry over that classics form.

and si, excited for the giro!

If Remco has recovered close to 100% it should be a banger.
