1:15 of mtbing today. Trails are in that state where dirt is really good and grippy in some spots, but some corners you come into and just completly feel like you're gonna wash into unseen soft spots. Lots of fun. If i can find the yard tools I need, I'm gonna try to get out soon to do some trail repair. There are some pretty gnarly ruts that need some work out on my local trails.

Did the 4x30 as 6x20 instead, to encourage shorter rest periods since from what I've read it stimulates adaptation a bit better. 83-84% for all of em! Getting the hang of the refueling overnight thing, along with the on the bike sugar game.

Good man! Trail building is solid, gratifying work.

I did a bunch of it back in my Boy Scouts days. One guy's Eagle Scout project was building 0.25 mi of trail connecting the PCT to Scout Camp Mataguay out in Santa Ysabel. 1/4 mile doesn't sound like much but boy was that a lot of work! It took a whole team of us many weekends to complete.

For my project I built 200 ft of cedar split rail fencing along an Audubon Nature preserve in my home town. It's still there and I like to ride by it some times when I'm riding from home/my parent's house.

MTB commute into work this morning, similar duration as @Ttoc6. I felt great and cleared a few steep and/or technical sections that usually make me put a foot down. Weird because I'm fatigued from hard interval workouts on the road bike over T and W, and I had a few to drink with the lady last night. Whatever, I'll take it!

started a workout this morning that would have been 4x10 @ 105%, stopped at 2 (which were poorly done, I think I really need to re-examine my ftp or think about how I do over-threshold workouts) and saw the sun was out and it was warm-ish so I took my cross bike out for awhile and as I tend to do on the road it was a hodgepodge of stuff of short durations, trying to push myself harder than I can typically do indoors. 61tss indoors, 98tss outdoors, definitely my highest tss day in awhile. up to 83 ctl, guess we'll see on saturday how fit I really am when I race lol

Over Unders. 5x8mins 95%, 105%. The over part was basically 3 mins, 1min ramp up to 105%, 1 min there, 1 min ramp down. Fun.

Have to figure out how to integrate a round trip on the Silver Comet here in GA into the plan. Friend is doing an Ironman and he wants a bike companion. It’s 121 miles round trip.

6x1'. Last season, I set out to improve my end of race power and I finally broke 600w for 1' last summer. For this season, I set myself a reach goal of 650w for 1' by my birthday (May 3). Dang if I didn't nearly do it on my first interval today: 623w. A new all-time PR, and I was holding back a smidge.

I think that qualifies as clicking the "breakthrough" tab on Training Peaks!

Practice Crit. This was going to be a shakeout ride for the weekend crit, but on the second lap I hit a pothole and had a blowout. Spare had a cut in it, so I was done. Wasn't paying attention and threw a pretty epic temper tantrum, to which about 30 warehouse workers who just left their building cheered me on.

On the plus side, I'm finally starting to feel comfortable in a pack. I know that's second nature for some guys but I've always had to work my way into it after a long layoff (and this one was 2 years).

First team ride of the year. We've changed routes to avoid traffic and get a bit further away from town which is a huge plus. I was supposed to do 7x4minutes above threshold with pickups today. I got out and did 3 of them before the group ride, then expected the ride to be pretty easy with plans to do a few more after. But! The group ride was fast enough and actually afforded me the effort to do some above threshold work. So bailed on the post ride intervals to eat a good stir fry dinner.

2 hours @ the hammer ride yesterday, 3 hours today after work.

11.5 hours for the week so far. We'll see if I can keep it up.

100+ miles including hammer ride planned for Saturday, will probably sleep all day Sunday or maybe ride more.

2.5 hour endurance ride on Tuesday featuring two climbs up Torrey Pines hill - first one threshold and the second one VO2 Max. Yesterday was z2 laps around Fiesta alternating drops, hoods, tops and standing.

Last year I gave up my endurance for strength for sprinting. It has taken several months to regain endurance and my HR is finally tracking my power with the usual lags and fluctuations...to an extent.

My VO2 power climbing effort was at 160 bpm where as my kilo effort racing heart rate was 186. Does that mean I have 26 bpm of head room over my VO2 effort? It seems like too much.

nothing today, figured I'm open enough from this week for tomorrow's race lol. While I'd love to come up with strategy of what I can or can't do, the reality is I'll probably be clinging on the whole time. I've got a new conti gp 4000sii on my bike so that should be good for something (at least it'll feel different from riding my cross bike outdoors as I have been)

90ish minutes of sweetspot today, then a few 20/40s at FRC after that when I was tired. 2:30 hours, 217 TSS, and 2600 kJs.

A bit of an ouch.

1.5 on the mtb this morning. Probably about 45 of that on the raods kinda just noodling. Point was to get some recovery, and time on the trail before racing tomorrow. Some big hitters gonna be there. All the strong local guys + one of ht Thirsty Bear guys from NorCal that'll probably kick my ass in the TT then kick my ass in the Circuit race.

Group Ride, did a ton of work. 3.5hrs. 319TSS, NP 249, 2250KJ. Plan has another FTP Test coming up shortly, next week is a rest week. Hope to have a better number. The TSS number is probably right for my current set FTP, but not for how I feel or am currently riding.

Anyway, onward and upward.

Big group ride. I remember why I don't do big group rides. Got some good digs out of it, though, and had a hard 20 minutes of small-group pacelining at the end. So I guess that's good.

3:34, 265 TSS, 2900 kJ. CTL at 96. Might push through for a few more days, break 100, then back off a bit. Racing starts next Saturday and then it's jam-packed in April, May and June with races nearly every weekend in six different states.

Group ride up one of the famous Cols in SoCal, Lytle Creek. I had my race wheels on and flatted going up, spare flatted as well and no one in my selection had 66+ mm tubes. I walked 3 miles down the mountain until I got cell reception and got a ride home.

I planned to do Raincross but my teammates planned this one instead. Would have taken training wheels if I knew; that road is nothing but shale, glass, and auto parts.

Now I don't know if I'm going to ride again since I came well short of my planned TSS.

My son and I drove down to Hellyer this morning. A real kick in the butt and a whole lot of fun. Just wish it wasn’t a 4+hour round trip.

Back to some sort of consistency with riding, finally. 2 hours on the trainer yesterday, with a 75 minute block of tempo thrown in.

Only 5.5 hours and 330 tss, but at least im able to get some back to back rides in again without feeling drained. Going to plan some intervals these next 2 weeks..I really want to do the last training series race that started this weekend (3 weeks of races, a/b/c races..fun course..). It may be a big stretch, but I am itching to race.
