Can you help me find this frame model? PLEASE (newbie here) BRIDGESTONE?

Had this one for a while now. My dad bought it from a surplus shop around 20 years ago, don't know if it was already used. I just got into cycling this year and hoping to give this frame new life. I want to know what model this is so I can repaint it back to it's original color.

All I know is that there's a serial on the headtube K821858. It has Shimano 600 group and DiaCompe brake and levers. It's using a Bridgestone Sugino 53/43T crank set.

I browsed most of the catalogs especially Sheldon Brown but nothing seems to match. Now I don't even know if this is a Bridgestone frame. Please help me. Thank you for taking time to read this post. Have a great day!

You need 10 posts before you can add pictures. If you add them to an album on your profile someone else can add them to the thread. Or you can just post five times complaining about the rule.

I’m thinking that’s original paint there. Vertical drops would make it 80s wouldn’t it?

But interesting color-decal scheme almost resembles 70s styles...?

Maybe different market...Australia, Europe, South America or something?

Just throwing spaghetti at the wall...

Based on the serial number, in conjunction with the world championship stripes and the CPSC compliant cage on the Shimano front derailleur, this bicycle was built in 1978. However, I see that the OP is from southeast Asia, so the models won't line up with the USA, where most members are located. Based on the vertical dropouts and the lack of cantilever or rack bosses on the stays and blades, it would be a Bridgestone Eurasia EA model. The 1978 catalogue is shown without top tube cable tunnels while they are present on the 1979 catalogue, so it may be a 1979 model manufactured in 1978 (or a 1978 if they changed it after the catalogue was relased). However, the royal blue was a factory colour in 1979. It's the small frame size, so it would technically be a Bridgestone Eurasia EA-F1.

I feel like this might be a Japanese-market bicycle. The yellow sticker in the second photo looks like a bicycle license from Japan.

1964 Bridgestone Randonneur

My first 10 speed. I bought this Bridgestone in Japan in 1964. It came with Weinmann CP brakes, Huret derailleurs and a Wright leather saddle. Weight ~28 lbs as equipped so it must have had a very light frame, The color was the same lime green metallic that Legnano used.

I was surprised to see the ad that T-Mar posted. My bike was somewhat similar to the OP's 1978-79 bike... ( has 2 wheels and so on ) Actually basic bikes didn't change much over 14-15 years.

Portrait of the artist as a young man:

A 1967 Bridgestone flyer for a similar model to mine. 28,000¥ = $78 USD

Oh I see. I've read in some cases, frames made on later months are sometimes used the year after. So a 1979/1989 frame would be plausible.

What bugs me is the blue color and the head lugs. Do they sometimes use different head lugs from time to time? I've also seen some 88 RB4 on ebay with a different headtube lug than that of the catalog.

Most surplus shops here in the Philippines get their bikes directly from Japan, so I'm assuming it's from the Japanese market.

Do all BS classic bikes have engravings on the lug or fork? I couldn't find one on mine. Hopefully the info helps.

It's definitely not 1988/1989. The components, graphics and frame characteristics point to a decade earlier. Brand embossing on frame fittings didn't become popular on the major mass production brands until the 1980s. Bridgestone's high end frames first received brand embossing in the mid-1980s, with the lower models following later. So, the absence of embossing is consistent with the era.
