Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

You've obviously have never been to a Target. My wife can spend hours in there and buy nothing. Of course, she knows all of the other women there as well.

Ran that through myplates.com, and the availability check came back and said that plate is forbidden.

Man, I've been a slug this week, yet I still find myself at the top of the leader board. I blame Vol's competition for the demotivation of the group.

There were four long rows of freezers to search. None of them were labeled "Puff Pastry Dough." I don't shop at that store often, and I almost never buy any food that is frozen from any store. I usually shop for dinner fixins' every evening after work or during lunch time. Grilled a nice dorade royale las night. Excellent fish to grill. Skin is delicious, and the flesh stays moist thanks to the layer of fat between the skin and flesh.

The little girl has been requesting that we go to/from preschool with the bike and trailer. Today, I took a route with a shortcut that had us briefly on a sidewalk. Shortly after, the girl pipes up from the trailer:

"Dad? We were just on the sidewalk."
"Well, yeah."
"But I thought that you were a road cyclist?"

Boom - roasted.

I was going to blame my daughter's softball schedule, which included an out-of-town trip last weekend. Blaming Vol sounds better.

You guys are lucky that I got rained out or I’d have another 35-40 miles.

Mrs. GJ's root canal, playing catchup on Zwift Academy, etc. That, and being announced after it had already begun.

Oh,, yeah - so on top of needing a root canal, Mrs. GJ tripped while working on the front yard and faceplanted, so now she's got a black eye. I worried the dentist would report me to the cops, but Mrs. GJ reassured me that she'd tell them she'd walked into a door.

We have visited the local urgent care for my daughter's injuries so many times over the years that I'm a tiny bit surprised no one has raised a question about it. I always make sure to let my daughter tell the story of what happened.

And furthermore......

I went ahead and wrapped the bars on the Ironman last night. Still trying to come up with a name for it. Obvious ones are "Tony" (like Tony Stark), or "Starkers", but what occurred to me was something based on being Number 9: Deadman, as in "Turn Me On Deadman". Now, how many understand why?

Yeah, all those busted fingers....

One of my sisters has been accident prone all her life - things like closing her finger in a car door, that kind of thing. The guy she married became a Personal Injury lawyer. We figure it was a match made in heaven.

It started on Monday, the first full Strava week of the month.
