1975 Team Champion
For many years this was my holy grail, and finally I now have it. I bought it from the original owner, who raced it in Southern California, and one day decided to anodize all the Campy parts black. Many years later, he moved out here to Boulder and I think the bike languished in a field and acquired "patina".... I wanted to honor it's past, so have kept it as original as possible, and treated/clearcoated all the surface rust. It's a worthy capstone to my modest Motobecane stable, which includes a '75 Le Champion (I am the original owner), and a '74 Grand Jubile (red/black, possibly the most beautiful paint on any bike I've seen). I am still searching for a Grand Record, preferably in Black/Red, but the one above in silver/black is absolutely stunning so I might change my mind(!)

Currently being packed up to be shipped to me. Got a ridiculously good deal on this Le Champion. Ordinarily, I wouldn't have a bike shipped to me. Used to do a lot of shipping and receiving and saw too many disasters. Couldn't pass this up, though. I'll post some before photos when it arrives. Lots of cleaning to come and that stem is coming off right away.

I had the same Kalloy stem on a Peugeot I picked up back in the early summer. Hated that damn thing, but I finally found a suitable replacement (Nitto Dynamic 120mm). Just donated the Kalloy to the bike co-op yesterday.

I recently added another Motobecane to my hoard, this time it looks to be a 1978-ish C3:

1980 Motobecane Grand Sprint with seventies decals
This is sort of a Frankenbuild . I bought the frame and fork for $20 , actually it had most of the parts hanging on the frame when I got it . The parts that were there were all over the place so I took the liberty of putting some Campagnolo stuff on it. The seat post was stuck ....the stem was stuck.....and there was surface rust that was getting under the paint so I had it media blasted , treated, and powder painted to the original color. The decals are for an earlier bike( I don't care for the eighties graphics) . They didn't make a Grand Sprint with old graphics so I cut and pieced together the top tube decal from Grand Record and Nomade Sprint sets. I am going to add fenders and lower gearing with a 1st gen. Cyclone GT RD (I have already ) because this feels more like a touring bike and I need something for climbing hilly areas .
This shows the top tube decal , right after building it up but before the new tires

^^^^^^ Yea , That is the reason the Motobecane crank is still there , for the 40 tooth small chain ring. Plus I would have had to change out the Stronglight BB, which was in good shape , if I wanted to put the Campy one on there. I am going from 28 low to 32 low, that should get this old man up the hills .....most of the time!!

Motobecane never made a bad move that I am aware of. I used hose clamps to carry a second bottle for today’s 75 mile ride. I plan to get a Huret shifter clamp for indexed Shimano 7 speed, a couple pairs of King Cage USBs, and then rotate those *****’n cable clamps to make room for my HPX-4.
1977 Grand Record
Edit: it is quite the ugly duckling right now (not pictured). experimenting with stems and bars as this top tube is 15-20mm longer than I usually shoot for to make room for my Acorn in the front. Today was 90mm Cinelli A1 with Giro bars. First ride was 110mm Technomic Delux with B115. If I can reasonably go N-1, I'd like to try some Compass bars on a 100mm Technomic. Whatever I end up with will have Black cotton tape and black housings.

75 Grand Jubile, modified for lower gears. My favorite out of all of these
Immaulate, museum quality 75 Grand Record, catalog correct. Stunning original bike.
75 Grand Jubile Mixte, my wife's bike to match my GJ. All original components including the long cage Jubilee RD
75 Grand Record, a very nice bike
73 Le Champion I bought from original owner. modified for more user friendly gearing. Good patina
This is part of my Moto collection. Plus I also have a 73 or 72 full Campy-equipped (including the tough to find French BB, HS, seat post) red/black GR and a Gugified 75 GR frame that is in primer. I have too many and the top three pics are the only ones I want to keep.

Beautiful bike, nicely put together! Looks like some new braze-ons and repaint.
What shifters are you using?

@obrentharris-
Good eye Brent. This frame has had many lives. The current iteration will last I think. I wanted to be able to easily install a front rack for rando bags or light fixtures, and I like to shoulder the bike without cable clips digging into my body...so the braze-ons.
The powder coat turned out great. Shifters are Dia-Compte Ene. Excellent shifters. On par with Simplex Retro.
