Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Here is one of my favorite local climbs. It's pretty tough.

https://www.strava.com/segments/580243

p.s. if you follow the grade, it does have some pitches of 15-20% the last quarter mile. Ouchie!

At .8 mile (elevation 744) it shows a 60% grade. WTF????

I made a cup of coffee for myself last week that was too strong even for my taste, at least black. Four heaping scoops of finely-ground Bulletproof French Roast, thick filter, took 90 minutes even with stirring it so the water would even get through eventually.

ship them east to me, I’ll look after them.

It's certainly a nasty climb, but I highly doubt it ever gets worse than 20%. That is probably an error.

I could look like that if I was 5 inches shorter and my legs were a lot bigger, waist a lot smaller, and I was 32 years younger.

Still wouldn't be able to ride an mtb with the bar that low, though.

Extremely strong performance by NS from start to finish, and a tight battle deep into the last lap. Great race.

I don't recall, is the TimTak position extreme forward or extreme backward?

I haven't actually watched it yet but when he's on, he's a machine. I don't know what happened to him in the Olympics, maybe he wasn't prepared. Pidcock, who won Olympic gold, finished 4th in the WC.

Don't forget about an aerobic system that is among the best ever installed in a human.

Bar drop looks similar to that of a high-level roadie.

That looks to be a fairly small bike. I'd probably keep hitting my knees on the bars.

There is that.

I think you run your mtb bar pretty low. I like it almost saddle level, I can't ride off stuff like he does .I think he's one of the last to use a dropper, too.

Pidcock started from a position WAY back in the field, battled hard through everyone, caught the lead group, and was leading the race at one point about mid-race. That effort might have taken too much out of him to respond to the pace at the end. In his social media, he also posted about having caught a bug that some other racers had also struggled with during the weekend. I would like to see Pidcock race against a top field from a front-row starting position.

Pidcock is only 23. He's a phenom and only going to get better. He might even become a good road racer.
