Gazelle Model A Frameset

Offering a Gazelle Model A frameset in a striking deep orange color. It is a recent respray and re-decalled frame with just the slightest amount of shop wear (as in but a few drops of touch-up may be needed in a couple inconspicuous spots).

It has lovely long point lugs that are filled with contrasting yellow, and a wrap around seat stay treatment. Campy drops. Has brazed on DT posts and below BB cable routing tabs. SN 3189619

Lines up fairly well as being a 1976 model, but probably later due to the braze ons (see catalog link)
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B32...5ZWI3ZGFj/edit

TT = 22.5 in CtC
ST = 23 in CtC

Picked this up in exchange for some services performed for another forum member, and have debated on building it up. In the end, decided that it may be just a shade bigger than I need, and I have a couple other lovely old frames on the peg for projects this winter that fit me more appropriately.

Sold to a good c&v home...

Good looking frame. Are you throwing in the bowl of tangerines with the sale?

Wife won't let me part with the bowl. As for the tangerines, buyer pays shipping so why not...

120mm rear spread. 27in wheels with 1 and three eights inch tires no problem. Probably can manage 38's or 40's if you went the long reach caliper route with 700c's. Fork measures 45. Chain stays are dimpled from new and measure 40 plus depending on how far rearward the wheel is set.

Pete, that's a great poppin' orange. Ironic because I have a tattered and tired looking Trim Trophy, the original plan to strip, add canti post and shoot it orange.

Then I see this posting and drats -almost the direction I was seeking, better frame plus with the re-finish... yet it too is large for me. Good luck, someone is going to be happy.

Hello,

Great looking bike with a reasonable price, but, sadly, a tad too big for me. GLWS!

Cheers,

English bb.

Would consider shipping to Canada assuming no more complicated than a US shipment.

I recently received a frame via USPS to Canada which was about $80. I consider that very good price, so it can be done reasonably. It was a 62cm frame so this should be no problem.

I can't believe that the bike has lasted this long especially with that bowl of tangerines thrown in.

This was refinished by a forum member using auto shop quality equipment and is nicely done. The decals appear to be vinyl. I don’t believe that the frame has been clear coated but the decals are much more rugged than transfers.

This is is what I know based on examination, I don’t have the full pedigree documented.

Yeeeeeee, I already have an A-B frame Champion Mondial. But this is still tempting. I must say, with sew-up tires mine is a very easy bike to ride fast for a long time, long distance.

Are those decals and that respray anywhere close to the original? Just curious because they seem progressive for '76. But then, I don't know the CM history. Some of the details do seem to match that catalog entry.

It's a very nice frameset in person.

Sloar and I restored it from pics taken by me in Bruges, Belgium twenty years ago.

The original bike was converted to a flat bar town bike.

We really tried to get it as close as possible.

This is a super nice frameset, especially at this low price. imho

@Chrome Molly, @gomango has convinced me! Not that I need another bike, let alone another Gazelle. Just curious, in those pics the fork bend looks quite sudden rather than gradual. Is the fork original? If so I'll take it. PM on the way...
