does anyone leave zwift running for multiple days?

I know people do, because I see people riding through the grass in central park in New York all the time. I was just curious how long people have left it running without issue. I suppose you don't get the world of the day though. I have left it running a couple of times and it's nice not to have to go through startup. Which on my PC takes a long time, even if they haven't come up with some bogus reason to upgrade.

Today's worlds are london and yorkshire, my least favorite. Zwift is already running, so I don't think I'll restart.

i never did. why do you think those riding on grass is the indicator of those that do?

always thought watopia was the best since it had it all.

i've left my trainer on for multiple days by mistake, no harm to it.

When you say you leave it running, do you mean you just stop riding, or end your ride and go back to the main screen? You don't exit the program anymore when you end your ride, as you did before.
I've never left it on the main screen before, but I guess as an experiment it could be done on a day when the worlds will change the next day to see what happens.

Yes, I meant saving the ride I just did and letting it go back to the main screen. I guess they aren't changing worlds until Friday, I don't seem to be able to find a February schedule for some reason.

I always figured they skipped enough updates that the map changed somehow.

I do get frustrated that I can't seem to land in Makuri. It seems every time I join, I get Watopia and a set of the very limited maps -- Richmond, Innsbruck, London. Those places. I'd like more Makuri and even NY. Also, Scotland is disappointingly small. This is not on topic to the OP, but since people are talking about maps ...

But to the OP - I'm not sure what is meant. I close the app every time. What is the advantage to leaving it open?

The thing that got me started thinking about leaving it open was the bad update they did last week where it didn't work on the PC, which is the platform I use. But I also don't like the fact that it starts so slowly, particularly if there is an update. Which also may be a PC problem, but since that's the platform I use it affects me.

When I was searching around for the answer to this question, I found out you can turn on background updating for the pc if you want it. I might try it.

It turns out the worlds change when you leave it open. So there is little downside to leaving it open

I don't know if this is related to leaving the app open, but last night I did an event and there were no rider avatars for the first few minutes. I was hoping they would take a picture of it, I suppose I should have done a screen shot. It was a little eerie

I didn't describe what was happening very well, there were bikes moving along, but no riders on them. Ghost bikes. Then I started fading in and out and finally everyone else showed up.
There weren't any updates, so it must have just been a glitch in the matrix.

If you don't close out after a ride how do you get alerted for version updates? I always quit the application when I finish a ride and as the message says, "I'm Done" cause usually I am ha ha

One of the motivations for leaving it open is so I can choose when to get updates. I can't count the number of times when I have gotten to my trainer and it wants to do an update even though I'm in a hurry.
They did improve the updating on PC, but it's still glacially slow. And the computer I run it on is on wired ethernet. At least it doesn't lock up 3 times for each update anymore.
