Contaminated brake rotor
Today I was cleaning my cassette with paint thinner, and accidentally got some on the rotor. Is this a contamination concern, and if so, how do I clean it?

Clean as best you can with a dry paper towel, then isopropanol.
If you really need to clean your cassette, mineral spirits (maybe your paint thinner is this) will do the trick.
(Since I wax my chain, I never need to clean the cassette).

I just melt a $1.50 block of paraffin and swirl the chain around in it, but I am sure that the Silca drip would work fine. That is usually good for 10 or so rounds of application (often several chains at once).

What do you use as paint thinner? if it was to clean/degrease the cassette, then, just rinse the disc/rotor with fresh water and do some rear braking and you should be fine.

Thanks for the tip on parafin wax, hadn't thought of that. I've heard of people melting the wax in a small crockpot, what do you use? Ideally I'd like to find something a little smaller, but I won't worry to much if it costs a dollar or so at a local goodwill. Just got to find somewhere to put it!

I tend to "de mud" my bike, clean the cassette/chain/pullet with white spirit, wash everything with soappy water and rinse. once dried and relubbed, I run the brakes a few time to clean the surface of both rotors ad pads... then, in storage until next adventure.
