1x disc trucker chainline?
Short version.
What is the ideal chain line for converting a 2015 surly disc trucker to 1x? Hub is 135mm.
Long version
My plan was to buy my a Woom 6 for my 10-year-olds next bike. However she wants to use a 42cm surly disc trucker we have sitting around in the garage. If we do this I'd like to ditch the front derailleur, get a shorter crank, and try flat bars. Trailcraft makes some cranks for kids, 149mm chainline. I'd be either using 1x11 decor, an advent x drive train. she does longer rides with me on the weekend, 20'ish miles, so i want the bike to be comfortable for her.

Assuming it has a stock triple on the front, the middle chain-ring likely has the optimal chain-line, which you can measure.
(If it were me, I would just make sure it is shifting well and leave it as it is. It is a well-thought-out touring bike, and it is kind of a pity to make all of those changes which may well degrade its performance.)

Thanks for the tip about measuring from the middle chainline. I get 46.5, so after some googling I'm guessing that's really a 47.5mm chainline.
I hear what you are saying about modifying the Trucker for a kids bike. But I think it's probably cheaper than selling it and buying a xs adult bike. The choices are really limited for good quality 26/650b xs bikes.

The chainstays on this bike are so long that it really doesn't matter. No idea how well it will work as a kid's bike but I guess you'll find out.
